"I am busy, Baelon." Mother said as she entered through the door, "I do not have time for whatever you need to speak to me about."
There was a tense air about her. I suppose she was still angry at me, for whatever reason. But at this moment, that did not matter.
I sighed, "I know, Mother." I said, "You have been acting rather coldly towards me."
She looked at me, "No, I have not." She said as she crossed her arms, "Do not be ridiculous."
"I will not argue with you. Not now." I told her as I gestured over to Helaena, "We have something to discuss with you."
"If it is about your Father's decision, Baelon, I would rather not." She said with a sigh, "He is the King, I cannot do much abo-"
"Not that." I said as I walked over to her and gently grabbed her shoulders, "Your daughter has something to tell you."
She frowned, "What?"
I looked over to Helaena, who was holding one of the books in her hands, flipping through a page. I could easily tell that she was not paying much attention to us rather than the pages in said book.
I cleared my throat, "My love...."
"Did you know that there was once a war involving more than a hundred dragons?" She said without taking her eyes off the book, "The Valyrian Freehold was in a conflict with the Rhoynar....it was quite brutal...fascinating...."
"Helaena..." Mother walked past me and over to Helaena, "Why did Baelon call me over for?"
"Can you imagine?" Helaena continued, "So much fire....so much blood.....our House has less than piece of that power.....and we can cause so much destruction already...I wonder what kind of devastation a war of dragons can cause.....I say it could bring about the end of the world...."
Mother sat next to her, "My sweet girl..." She said as she gently tucked some of her hair behind her ear, "I am quite busy, so I need to know what is going on...."
Helaena then looked up, "There are creatures that are akin to Dragons...." she said, "They are called wyverns...but they are more aggressive and savage...and could not be controlled....they also do not breathe flames....but....I think that is interesting...."
I cleared my throat, "Love...?"
She looked at me, a hint of hesitation in her eyes as she nervously smile, "I...." She started, "I think that it is quite interesting how such creatures can exist in such a world....right...? T-There is so much to it that we do not know....."
Mother looked at me, "What is going on, Baelon?" She asked with a frown, "Did something happen? I really need to know because I am starting to get concerne, she is acting very strange and is-"
"You are going to be a grandmother..." Helaena cut her off as she looked at her
Mother looked at her with a stunned look, "W-what? Sweetling, I already am." She said before giving her a smile, "Have you forgotten about your nephew, Jaehaerys? What could you possibly mea-....Oh..."
She looked at me, and I simply nodded.
She then looked back at Helaena, who was giving her a nervous smile.
"Oh...." Mother said before tears formed in her eyes, "H-Helaena....a-are you certain....?"
Helaena nodded, "I...." She said, "I could feel the life of my Baelon's child inside me...."
Mother looked down at her stomach and gently patted it, "M-My sweet girl...." She said as her lips quivered, "Y-You are to be a mother....?"
Helaena nodded, "Are you angry?"
"What?" Mother looked at her, "Angry? Why would i be angry? Oh, Helaena....I am....Oh, I cannot believe this is happening.."
She pulled her into a hug, a mixture of laughing and crying could be heard. I knew that Mother would be happy to hear the news but I did not expect her to be emotional.
"I am to be a Mother..." Helaena said as she dug her face in her shoulder, "I am so happy, Mother.....I...I feel so happy...."
Mother sniffed, "Yes...." She said, "You should be....to carry the child of the man you love...."
I nodded, "I'll leave you to it then." I said before turning around, "I'll be in the training yard."
I was about to walk away when mother called out for me.
"Where do you think you are going?" She said
I stopped and looked at her, "I just sai-"
"Come here." She said seriously
I sighed and walked over as Helaena pulled away from Mother as she stood up, "Alright..."
Mother walked up to me and stopped as we met each other.
"Look at you.." She said as she reached for my shirt, adjusting my collar and buttons, "All grown up....."
"Hm.." I said as I looked at her
"My beautiful boy." She wiped a tear away, "So big...so strong...."
"Mother..." I started
She patted my cheek, "If you...." She said seriously, "If you do something so foolish again, I would never forgive you. You are to be a Father, Baelon. I need you to take this seriously. Do not risk your life again like that. I cannot bear the thought of losing you....any of you...."
"I know...." I said softly, "And I am sorry....but it had to be done."
"Even so..." She sniffed, "I cannot stand it....I love you so much.....my beautiful boy....Oh, gods....I love you so much...."
She hugged me and I could not help but wrap my arms around her in return.
"I am sorry we could not give you a grandchild until now." I said, "Understand that I...."
"I know." She said softly, "It matters not to me. You would not do it against my girl's will, I appreciate that. I can only hope that she wanted it...."
"I did, Mother.." Helaena said softly
Mother pulled away and smiled, "Oh, you...." She said as she looked at Helaena, "My children......there are times when I worry about losing you.....but......I am glad that I have not. I am happy Viserys married the two of you together at my request..."
"Hm..." I said
"Your Father has to know." Mother said, "Does he know?"
"I do not think so." I said
"Then he must know." She said, "You should tell him."
"Not yet." I said, "Not after..."
"I know." She said, "We'll speak about that later."
"Right." I nodded
"For now....." Mother said, "Just enjoy each other's time, no?"
I smiled, "Yes." I said,
"We will."
