House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men: Chapter 88: The Singer
🕑 Added 2025-02-24 19:24:33 +0000 UTC(Drakken's POV)
[Stormlands, Present....]
"My Lord...." Ser Braxton said, "It took a bit longer than we'd wanted it to...but we found him...."
I stood at the base of a large set of hills, the sky above us was dark and thundering. It had been a few days after I got here in the Stormlands in search of the Stormsingers. These mages were more elusive than the Greenseers but at the end of the day, they could not hide.
I looked behind me, seeing a small group of huts behind us, "Bring the others with us." I said, "It is time we make an example."
He nodded, "As you command." He said as he turned around to face the others, "Go on, bring them over!"
I took a step and heard a loud crack of thunder in the sky as lightning flashed. I focused my senses and heard the faint sound of singing off into the distance, atop the hills.
"Hm..." I said as I took another step
Suddenly, the winds picked up and rain began to fall down hard. The sound of thunder got louder and the ground shook as lightning began to strike everywhere around us. The singing was getting louder and louder as I could make out the presence of an individual ahead.
I smirked slightly, "You're making this harder than it is supposed to be, huh?" I said as I cracked my neck, "Very well."
I raised my arm up and snapped my fingers, causing a powerful shockwave that blew away the rain and wind with tremendous force, causing a momentary area of calm. I saw that the tempest began to pick up even more as the singing got even louder, a high-pitched voice that was barely heard through the rain.
"Tch...." I said
"Lord Drakken!!" I heard someone call
I turned to see my soldiers dragging several women along with them, they clawed at their arms as they tried to break free from their grasp.
I reached for one, "Give me one."
One of the soldiers walked up to me and handed me a woman, a short petite brunette with blue eyes. Like the others, she was gagged with a piece of cloth.
I grabbed the woman by the throat, squeezing it slightly. I felt her arms on mine as she tried to desperately break free, her muffled pained screams were barely heard through the sound of the tempest.
I pinpointed the location of the individual causing the tempest with my senses and looked at the woman, "You don't have anyone else to blame but him." I said, "Should have handed him over."
In a swift motion, I flung the woman over to the hills, watching her body barrel through the rain and wind as she disappeared from sight. I still had her in my senses and I raised my hand up, opening my palm as I concentrated my power to her.
As I noticed that she had reached the individual, I clenched my fist and a loud bang was heard, followed by smoke and flames.
Suddenly, the tempest began to die down as the singing stopped.
"Hm." I said as I looked up at the sky, "Good."
"What did you do?" Ser Braxton asked
"I blew her up." I said, "To disrupt his singing. Not only that, I sent a message. Let's go. Bring the others."
We then made our way up the hills and after a few minutes of walking, we reached the top where a small pillar of smoke and flames was slowly dying down. Next to it, a man that was wearing a blue cloak was seen kneeling down, clutching his arm which was scorched.
I stopped a couple of meters in front of him, seeing that his long hair was draped down, dangling in front of him.
He looked up at me, his feminine eyes staring daggers right at me as his pale face reflected the light of the flames.
"Y-You...." He managed
His voice was calm and soft, but full of power. There was something about him that was odd. Sure, I've encountered men that looked a lot like small women in my past but this one was odd, more strange than I could put my finger on.
It didn't matter at this point.
"Stormsingers, huh?" I said as I looked at the other women, "You stick together and hide away from the Realm, huh?"
He straightened up, "Who are you?"
I looked at him with a slight smirk, "I think you know."
He narrowed his eyes, "You're him...." He said softly, "The one in the Riverlands....the Monster....."
I chuckled, "Have you ever been met with a situation so hopeless that you have no choice but to accept it?" I asked as I extended my arms outwards, "Boy....."
He winced in pain, "W-What do you want?"
"You." I said
I then caused the women to float in the air with my Telekinesis, hearing their limbs flay around hopelessly as I held them high in the air. I saw the man's eyes look up at this in shock and horror.
"S-Stop!" He said, "What is it you want from me?!?"
I smirked, "Your power to control the storm with your singing." I said, "It is amusing and intriguing. I like it. I want it for myself."
"Then you n-need my services?" He said as he took a step forward, "I-I'll join your cause if that is what you want! Don't harm them, please!!"
"Oh? You're mistaken, boy." I said, "I don't intend to recruit you."
"W-what?" He said with a surprised tone
"Tell me, what do you know of dragons?" I asked
"T-The dragons?" He asked, "The Targaryens control them....the mightiest power in the world..."
"No....not that...." I said, "Well it is my fault for asking the question. They are winged creatures that take to the skies and dominate them. It is true that this world's dragons are such beasts, those that rule the skies....but none of them truly rule them....when you think of the sky and it's ire....what is it that comes to mind?"
He thought for a few seconds, "A-A Storm...."
"That is right." I said, "I intend to make that happen."
"What?" He said, "A S-Storm Dragon?"
"You catch on quick." I said with a chuckle, "My son was just born...which means one thing; more will follow. And not only that, more of my draconic beasts will also be born. The more of them that pop up, the less safe the Realm will feel. The Targaryens will try to make a move and War will inevitably break out. It doesn't matter when, a few years from now, a few decades from now....the point is, I will be there to see that it happens. And when it does, I want my Beasts to dominate the Realm.....No....the World....and my sons....no, my children....they will control them...and in the end, those two will come. Grayle and Talis will bring about the doom of this world."
"I...." He said
I snapped my fingers and heard the disturbing sound of flesh exploding, feeling splashes of blood and bits of bone land on my shoulder.
"N-No!!!" He shouted as he took a step forward
I killed the other women, his fellow Singers.
"I am done doing deals. Now, I will take what I want when I want." I said, "And I want you....or your power.....to create the Ruler of The Skies....."
"The Storm God."
