House of The Dragon-The Beauty, The Bold, and The Black Dread: Chapter 91: Trial By Seven IV
🕑 Added 2025-02-16 01:46:32 +0000 UTC(Third Person POV)
Qarl Correy swung his sword at Laenor who dodged it by stepping to the side, "So you've made your choice, Laenor..." He said as Laenor countered with a thrust, "You've sided with them!"
"What are you talking about?!" Laenor scowled, "Who else am I supposed to side with?!"
"Your Father wanted to change the Realm." Qarl said as he swung his sword again and the two of them clashed, "Yet you failed him!"
"You are not making any fucking sense, Qarl." Laenor said, "I may be a Velaryon but I am Targaryen as well, who do you think my mother is?!"
They swung their blades at each other, parrying each other's blows as they stepped to the side of the arena. Qarl was able to stumble Laenor by hitting him with a repeating thrust that the Lord of House Velaryon was barely able to deflect.
Qarl then rushed in and swung his sword viciously as Laenor jumped and rolled away. The former Knight's sword cleaved halfway through the wooden barrier as Laenor straightened up and pointed his sword at him.
"Yiel." Laenor said
"Never." Qarl said as he pulled his sword out
"What has gotten into you?" Laenor said
"You promised that after your Father changed everything, we would be together." Qarl said as he rushed him, "Yet you did nothing as everything crumbled apart. You abided by the laws of the Targaryens.....after everything we've been through!"
"You are delusional if you think that was actually going to happen." Laenor said, "There is no changing the fact that House Targaryen is at the top, for a good reason! Nobody would be able to win a war against them should Baelon still be alive.....especially with Balerion....you and my Father were both wrong.....and why would you think I agreed with that....if you are referring to that night, I was drunk.....you know that!"
Qarl rushed at Laenor and swung his sword once but Laenor parried it and pivoted to the side, spinning around and slashing at him. Qarl deflected that slash and tried to riposte but Laenor had proved to be faster as he stepped to the side.
Laenor then thrust his blade at Qarl's midsection but missed as Qarl stepped away, counter-swinging at Laenor's neck.
Laenor ducked and felt the pressure of the swing as he immediately thrust his sword up at Qarl who parried.
"I will make sure you regret that decision...." Qarl said, "Laenor!"
Laenor parried another sword swing and stepped back, "I don't think so." He said, "It is obvious that you were hung up on the love we shared....but you betrayed not only the Realm, but myself....you won't be forgiven for that, Qarl!"
"Like you would too..." Qarl said with a vicious glare
Laenor swung his sword and immediately pulled it back as Qarl had raised his blade for a parry. He then brought the sword back and immediately went for a thrust aimed at Qarl's shoulder. The former Knight immediately stepped to the side to avoid it but Laenor immediately composed himself and spun around, swinging the sword at him.
Qarl was able to parry it but Laenor followed it up with a quick kick to the thigh, staggering him. He tried to finish it with a thrust to the midsection but Qarl jumped away, rolling on the ground.
Laenor rushed at Qarl but his sword swing was parried at the last second, which caused the spectators who were focused on their fight to gasp.
Qarl kicked Laenor in the chest, causing him to stagger back, "I don't hate you for this...." He said, "But it does pain me that this has to happen...for the sake of the realm..."
"I cannot believe you had let Trevor and his rotten views to corrupt you.." Laenor said as he panted slightly, "Qarl...."
Suddenly, a blade was plunged through the back of Laenor's throat, blood pouring out as a loud gasp was heard throughout the courtyard.
Princess Rhaenys stood up with widened eyes, "NOOOO!!!"
Laena Velaryon had immediately covered her daughters' eyes as everyone else watched in pure horror.
"L-Laenor....!" She exclaimed with shock
Arryk Cargylle pulled his sword out of Laenor and the Lord of House Velaryon dropped to the ground, dead, blood pooling the floor.
Erryk Cargylle had just recovered from being assaulted by Eryn, who decided to switch targets briefly from his fight. He was looking at this with a shocked expression, his eyes fixing on his twin brother.
"H-How could you?" Erryk said as he shook, "Y-You stabbed him in the back....h-how could you? Have you lost you honor, Arryk?!"
Arryk looked at Qarl and then turned to face his brother, "Honor?" He said, "You forget yourself brother...look who we serve.....dragonriders who care not for whoever is below them.....what good is honor when defending monsters like them? When they can burn down villages and annihilate thousands at a whim...."
"Is that your reasoning for this betrayal, Arryk?" Erryk asked, "That they hold power beyond our comprehension? What will Trevor do should he get ahold of that power?! Answer me, Arryk!!"
"He will change the Realm for the better!!" Arryk exclaimed as he rushed at his own brother, "Erryk!!"
Erryk clashed against his twin as Qarl rushed him as well. As the Kingsguard fended off his twin, Qarl thrust his sword at him but Erryk was able to parry the blade with ease. For a few seconds, he was fighting off both his brother and Qarl Correy, parrying and blocking their attacks. While he was able to avoid their attacks, he was still being pushed back, their onslaught being a bit too much to handle.
"You allowed to be corrupted?" Erryk said as he pushed Qarl away, "I did not think you were this weak!"
"We are the same soul in two different bodies, brother!" Arryk exclaimed, "You feel the same way!"
"Never!" Erryk exclaimed, "I serve Our King and his Family! Prince Baelon is the Future of the Realm. With him, Westeros will prosper and any threat against the Realm will be dealt with his way, no matter how much we disagree with it!!"
Erryk swung his sword at Arryk as the former Kingsguard blocked it. Qarl tried to swing his blade at the Kingsguard's arm but Erryk immediately dodged, swinging his sword at his brother who blocked it.
"End of the line, Ser Erryk!" Qarl exclaimed as he tried to swing his sword
Suddenly, his blade was parried by another one and a boot went straight at his chest, pushing him back.
Qarl was then surprised to see Baelon looking at him with a serious look, "What?"
Viserys got on the edge of his seat as he watched, "Is he ignoring his opponent and going for other people?" He asked as he clenched his fist, "What is that boy doing?"
"Using their tactics, I suppose." Otto said, "They are down one.....with Ser Laenor now dead....a terrible thing...."
"Now is not the time to mourn..." Viserys said, "We'll mourn Laenor after this is over..."
Qarl rushed at Baelon and swung his sword, "Die, Prince Baelon!!"
Baelon parried his sword and immediately riposted, plunging his blade through Qarl's collarbone. He did not say anything, merely stared right at Qarl's eyes.
"AAghhh!!!" Qarl shouted in pain
Baelon then swung Blackfyre outwards, cutting right through his flesh and bone as blood sprayed out everywhere, a few drops splashing on his face.
Qarl dropped to his knees as Baelon then swung his sword yet again in a counter-swing, cleaving through the former Knight's neck, cutting his head off.
Everyone gasped in shock and horror; some looked away as others stared with wide eyes.
Helaena was one of the few who stared with wide eyes, processing what she had just seen; her husband beheading a man.
As Qarl's head rolled on the ground and his body dropped to the ground, he looked to the side to see Trevor panting slightly and holding his sword.
"Six against six." he said coldly,
"We're even again."
