House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men: Chapter 70: House Drakkengard V
🕑 Added 2025-02-09 05:44:49 +0000 UTC(Drakken's POV)
"So you all know why you're here." I said as I stood over the round stone table in one of the large meeting rooms, "We have work to do."
I was speaking to my trusted underlings; Jon Rivers, Olyver Rivers, and Mya. They had gathered here to take my orders; we are going to make a move.
Jon nodded, "Yes, My Lord." He said, "You want the Duskguard to move closer to Riverrun?"
I nodded, "Yes." I said, "Dispatch a squadron and have it camped out outside the Castle. House Tully is still in disarray so they'll be in need of some direction. Olyver, how goes our reconnaissance in Dorne?"
"House Martell is quite persistent." Olyver said, "Word is that they're going to send an envoy in the coming weeks. But with House Targaryen sending a message, I do not know what their next move will be. I need time, but I will find out for sure."
"If they make some ballsy move, you know what to do." I said as I sat down and crossed my arms, "What is the word on the Lannisters?"
"Lord Lannister has accepted the request and has invited you to Casterly Rock, Lord Drakken." Mya said
"Jon, have one of your commanders take the Squadron to Riverrun." I said as I looked at Mya, "Mya and I are going to have a little chat. You stay here and man Harrenhal. The Guardian is slumbering....if trouble arises, make sure our people stay out of its way should it wake."
Jon nodded, "Of course." She said, "What of the girl?"
"What of her?" I said, "She stays. Nobody touches her. And if for some reason, the Targaryens try and take her while I am gone, you kill them."
Jon nodded, "As you wish."
"We should take her." Mya said as she gave me a slight smile, "She needs to get some fresh air."
I frowned, "We are going on dragonback." I said, "Just you and I."
"She's a Targaryen." Mya said with a chuckle, "it is in her blood to dragonride."
"It is different than dragonriding like those fuckers are used to." I said as I looked away, "You know that."
Olyver cleared his throat, "My Lord." He said, "Pardon the interruption. But I also wanted to report that there is no progress in searching for the Raven."
I looked at him, "Hm." I said, "That's fine, I suppose. Keep trying, though."
He nodded, "Of course."
"Reach out to other Greenseers." I told him, "Have ours recruit them. By all means necessary. Oh, Jon, since you're in charge of the Castle....I have another task for our people...."
Jon looked at me as I pulled out a paper from my coat, "Yes..?"
I handed him the paper, "I would like it built within two weeks." I said, "I heard there is a strange black stone in Moat Cailin....send some men to gather some. Have one of our other Greenseers oversee that mission."
"As you command." He said, "I'll make sure it is done."
I leaned back, "Within the next few weeks, major moves will be made." I said, "But....we are still going to go for peace. Unless....we are provoked. We are House Drakkengard....we don't take any shit from anyone...."
Mya looked at me, "What will you do about the Lannisters should they overstep?" She asked
"What do you think?" I replied, "I'll kill them."
**********
"Maegelle." I knocked on the door to her quarters, "May I come in?"
"Yes." I heard her voice
I opened the door and walked in, seeing that she was sitting on the desk, coming from a position on the floor; I believe she was kneeling down.
I stopped a few feet away from her, looking at her.
She looked at me, a bit of a nervous look on her face, "Y-Yes, Lord Drakken?"
I glanced at the faint yet pinkish mark on her neck, "Hm...." I said as I walked over to her, "Interesting..."
I placed my hand on her cheek, seeing that she winced slightly and she shifted uncomfortably.
"What is it?" She asked softly
"You've been praying," I told her
She looked away, "I...."
"You cannot lie to me." I told her, "You know that. The Mark creates discomfort if your heart is not honest...if your Faith is not true....should it truly belong to another Religion, the Mark will know."
She closed her eyes, "I..." She started as she breathed a bit faster, "I am sorry."
I got on one knee and gently placed my hand on her lap, "What do you see when you look at me?" I asked her seriously, "Be honest with me."
She looked at me, "What do I see?"
I nodded, "Do not lie."
"A....." She started, "A man.....with an empty heart....."
"An empty heart, huh?" I said as I tilted my head, "Is that what you truly see?"
She stared at me for a few seconds, her eyes peering into mine. She did not say anything, I could tell that her breathing stabilized and she no longer felt nervous.
"I see...." She said, "You are troubled......"
I chuckled and reached for her hand, "Troubled, you say?" I told her, "Well......I am Chaos incarnate......"
I grabbed her hand gently and lifted it up closer to my face, seeing that she was frowning as I did so.
"Chaos...?" She asked
"I am a God." I told her as I caressed her gentle hand, feeling that she was responding nervously to it, "But I was a Man at one point.....I reached Divinity......it is hard for someone like you to understand. A person.....a native to this World."
"This world?" She asked me, "You are not of this world?"
I looked at her, "I came from the Stars." I told her as I held her hand with both of mine, "I crashed into this Land hard.....confused....and weakened......I had come out of another place....beyond the fabric of this reality. It is not something any of you can comprehend...."
"Lady Mya mentioned you are from a Land of Gods." She said softly, "Is that true?
"Infernis." I told her, "That is where I am from."
Why was I telling her this? I don't know. I just felt compelled to do so.
Was this.....was I different?
I don't know.
I didn't recognize this feeling.....perhaps it was too long since I ever felt it....
"Infernis...." she repeated, "Interesting....."
"To me...." I said as I straightened up, still holding her hand, "All of you, including your Father and anyone elder than him, are vastly younger than me....I am far older than you can grasp......well.... from your perspective at least. But you....you really are a child. It is hard...trying to understand what I am saying. Where I am from, Men ascend to Godhood....And Gods....they are everywhere.....and I was one of them....above them all. But here, I am the only one. The True God........"
She looked at me, "I really...." She started as she cleared her throat, "I will try to understand."
"My power is vast." I told her, "You know of what I am capable of. I call myself the God of War and Death....The Trinity represents that....but in truth....I am a Dragon God......"
"A Dragon God?" She asked
I nodded, "I am a Dragon." I told her, "But not like yours...the dragons that this world has...they are nothing to the ones from where I hail from....I am a Dragon God....I ascended a long time ago......."
"I see...." She said softly
"Perhaps that is why I am attracted to your Family." I told her, "The House of The Dragon....who am I kidding? That is why I am tormenting them....but you......well, I will admit...you are different than them, Maegelle....I can see that.....but I want you to see me for what I truly am...a Dragon God....a True God.....turn away from your False Gods and look at me...."
"My Faith...." She said, "My Faith is unwavering..."
She said the last part so softly that I was barely able to hear it.
"Hm...." I see, "Well....as long as you know your place. I overreacted the last time you spoke back to me. I did not know why I did not remove your head from your neck, It bothered me. But the truth is....I think I like you."
She looked at me with surprise, "What?"
"I like you. I find you interesting." I said, "You have a strong will.....and a Faith that is unwavering....I want that."
"You have that." She said as she gently pulled her hand away, "Lady Mya...."
"True." I said, "That woman is something else....But you.....I want you.....that Faith.....that love you have for your gods.....I want it...."
"Perhaps you will never have it." She said as she looked down
"Perhaps." I nodded, "Well, enough of that. Mya and I are going to Casterly Rock and she wanted me to invite you."
"Why are you going there?" She asked me
I shrugged, "No good reason." I said with a smirk,
"Just going to take their gold."
