House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men: Chapter 68: House Drakkengard III
🕑 Added 2025-02-07 17:56:51 +0000 UTC(Drakken's POV)
I knocked on the door, "Maegelle." I said, "May I come in?"
"Yes." She said
I opened the doors to her quarters and walked in. I saw that she was sitting down, reading a book. She wore a nice red dress that I picked out for her and her hair was tied to a ponytail with locks hanging by her side. Her face looked calm and serene and her eyes were focused on the pages of the book that was in her hand.
I walked up to her, "Hello."
She did not look up, "Hello, Drakken." She said as she flipped the page, "What may I do for you today?"
I looked around, "Are you comfortable?" I asked her, "You have been spending time in your quarters a bit more often than normal."
"I am content, I suppose." She said with a mere shrug, "I am being treated well. Better than what I had expected...being a prisoner and all..."
"You are not a prisoner." I said with a serious tone, "But I will not argue with you."
"That would be wise." She said, "I do not want another war breaking out."
I chuckled, "You little...." I said, "Your Mother, The Queen, has written."
She looked up from her book, "Mother?" She said softly, "What does she need?"
"She needs to see you." I said as I looked at her, "She has asked me to allow her to spend time with you...so, I came here to ask you, what would you do if I say no?"
She frowned, "I....." She started before looking back at the book, "If that is what you wish for.....fine, I will not protest."
I smirked slightly, "I can tell....." I said, "You want to see her."
"Well..." She said as she clenched her book a bit tightly, "I do....."
I turned around, "You have been behaving yourself quite well." I said, "I do not see a reason why not. But the thing is, your Father can be quite the annoying cunt. If he's using your Mother as a front to perform a scheme, I will know."
"I swear to you that nothing will be done." I heard her standing up, "Please, I beg you....allow me just this."
In the end, she is just a girl, in need of her mother. In this world, despite being so young, girls would be considered women and would be treated as such. Back in my world, you are not an adult until you reach 18 and even so, you're still considered a brat. One would not be considered a fully matured adult until they reach 20. I suppose that in this world, women are already mothers of many children by that age.
It is a bit strange.
But who am I to judge? I am an immortal dragon god.
I crossed my arms, "What do I get in exchange?" I asked, "What will you do for me?"
"I....well..." she stammered, "I do not know.....what do you require of me....?"
I placed my hand on my chin, "I do not know yet." I said, "I am thinking."
"Well...." She said, "Can I write to her at least?"
"Sure." I said as I looked at her, "Again, any scheme being brewed up will be discovered. And that would be a dozen lives that will be taken."
She nodded, "V-Very well...." She said as she bowed slightly, "Thank you...I appreciate it...."
I walked over to her and patted her cheek, "Look at you, dear Maegelle..." I said, "You look significantly better in normal dresses...rather than septa clothes....."
She frowned, "I...."
"Our House will grow." I told her, "I wish for you to be one of us by the time it does."
She looked down, "If you wish...."
I chuckled, "Write to your Mother." I told her as I walked away, "Tell her that I will allow her to visit when the time is right. I am busy dealing with some things at the moment."
"Thank you." She said softly
I stopped at the door and looked back at her, "Whether you like it or not, Maegelle." I said, "You are mine. You are a member of House Drakkengard now. Nothing will ever change that, so get used to it. You are my Lady, that is all the Realm will see you as. But I will not force you to do anything, do you hear me? I will not harm a hair on your head, I will treat you well."
"Do not think of yourself as a prisoner."
************
"My Lord." Mya said as she walked up to me
I was sitting in the table, eating, "What?" I said as I drank wine from a cup, "Can you not see I am eating?"
"I can see that..." She said as she sat on my lap, "I bring news."
I looked at her as she wrapped her arms around my neck, "What now?" I said, "This better be good."
"House Martell of Dorne has sent a letter." She said, "Offering a trading route in exchange for something."
I raised an eyebrow, "What?"
"They did not specify." She said as she ran her fingers through my hair, "Lord Martell wishes to have a meeting."
"Write back." I said, "Tell them I will consider it."
"As you wish, My Lord." She said, "I have another message."
"Oh yea?" I asked
"House Lannister is also asking for a meeting." She said, "Lord Lannister was not amused by your war in the Riverlands and wishes to see you for himself."
"The Westerlands, hm?" I said as I drank the rest of the wine, "What does he want?"
"I do not know." I said, "But House Lannister is one of the wealthiest Houses in the Realm. Their gold mines are vast, apparently."
"Gold...." I said with a chuckle, "Interesting...."
"Would that be beneficial to our House?" She asked me
I was reminded of something from my world; a Wyvern that lost the ability to fly due to coating itself with an armor of Gold. It got so heavy that its wings lost their purpose and developed into strong forelimbs. Not only that, the gold fused itself with its scales and the Wyvern unlocked a certain magical attribute regarding Gold.....allowing it to generate the Gold from its scales.
I remember that it was one of the few instances that a regular Wyvern unlocked magic, in contrast to Royal Wyverns, who have innate magical abilities. Wyverns have only one "magical" ability and that is their breath attack. This Gold Wyvern developed a molten gold breath that was so hot that it burned through a mountain.
This specific Wyvern was so sought after by all of the Houses of my generation that an entire campaign was launched to capture it. So many lives were lost, and armies destroyed, all to get this powerful being.
And when I got involved, the Archdragon Syrus had already gotten to it and killed it. I was so angry about it, so was Viktor and Riktor. A literal infinite fountain of wealth was robbed from us and we declared War on Syrus. It was from that conflict that we challenged the Dragon Gods.
I nodded, "Yes....." I said with a chuckle, "How many Dragon Hearts are on pristine condition? Ready for transmutation?"
"Two." Mya said, "The rest are still gathering magic....Why do you ask?"
"Let us get ourselves some gold." I said as I began to scheme something in my head,
"Set a meeting with House Lannister."
