[Back to The Battle With Jason and The Others]
As August's spell waned, Maliketh lunged at the Magic King, striking at him with one of his wings.
August, surprised at the speed, used a Teleportation spell to dodge the attack, appearing above the dragon.
He swung his staff down and hit him with a massive fireball that conjured from thin air, causing a massive explosion that shook the air.
Maliketh emerged from the explosion and thrust his tail-blade at August, engulfed in black light. The attack hit August, who clad himself in spectral and blue armor and sent him flying up into the air as said armor shattered.
"Quite the fast casting of your defensive spells." Maliketh noted as he followed up with several energy slices caused by the flapping of his wings, "But no matter."
The energy slices hit where August was but merely struck a massive sphere of energy.
August appeared from the sphere as he patted his clothes, "Impressive." He said, "You're no joke."
"I would expect nothing less from myself." Maliketh said seriously, "You're delaying the inevitable."
"And what could that be?" August asked
"Killing Jason Darkborne." He said
"Is that so?" August said, "I care not for Jason's livelihood, do with him as you wish. Hand over Irene, then."
"You're negotiating with me?" Maliketh asked
"I suppose I am," August replied
"And what would you do with her, should I hand her over?" Maliketh said
"That is of my concern," August said
"We've been over this." Maliketh growled, "I will not."
"Then I must force you to do so." August said, "Enough futility, then. Come."
August swung his staff and sent forth several fireballs at Maliketh who blocked them with his wings, acting as a shield. The explosions caused by the fire were instantly dispersed by Maliketh swinging his wing forth, sending energy slices at August.
August teleported away, appearing higher above the Dragon as the Tempest spell ended.
He pointed his staff down at him.
"Tonitrua Deus"
A massive lighting bolt struck Maliketh, one large enough to dwarf the massive Dragon. The impact of this resulted in a deafening Thunder clap that was heard miles around the battle. The attack was meant to strike the Dragon down, who was unfazed by the attack.
"Hm." August merely said
"Do you truly think I am weak to lightning, Magic King?" Maliketh said as he flapped his wings, "I have had enough of you."
Maliketh launched himself at August and fired off several black light projectiles at him. The Magic King avoided them as he teleported around the Dragon, who merely spun around, sending magic slices at him.
"Quite a terrifying specimen." August said as he fired several blast projectiles in return while teleporting, "His Majesty would be in awe of you."
Maliketh scowled, "You dare belittle me?" He said, "I shall strike you down for that!"
"Go ahead and try." August said as he appeared in front of the dragon, "You won't succeed."
August reared his staff back, replaced by a massive greatsword made out of pure magic power.
"Starfallen Piercer"
Maliketh was struck by the massive greatsword straight in his chest, causing a shockwave of pure magic power.
August then grimaced as he felt the recoil of the impact, "Hm."
"Futile." Maliketh said, "Mine scales, mine plates, are the incarnation of Jason's God-Steel, granting me an impenetrable armor."
"Is that so?" August said, "Might you be related to him? Your eyes are akin to Irene's boy."
Maliketh pushed August away using a shockwave, "Worry not." He said as he raised his arms in front of him, "Know that I shall cleave you in half. You conjured your sword made of pure magic, did you not? I shall pay in you in kind."
August saw as Maliketh summoned a massive greatsword made out of pure black light.
"Primordial Blade"
"Interesting." August said, "That is Jason's Black God Slayer light, concentrated greatly into a blade. You....you are his son, are you not?"
"Hmph." Maliketh answered simply
On the ground, Jason coughed up blood as he was held in Erza's arms, who looked up at the sight.
"We have to regroup ourselves, Jason." She said as she picked him up, "Where's Erion? Natsu and Gray? Once we recuperate, we can strike back."
In the distance, Erion slowly got on his feet, shaking off debris caused by the explosions of lightning.
He looked up at the sky and saw Maliketh and August facing off, letting out a deep growl.
"Erion!" Erza called out, "Come here!"
Erion looked at her, noticing Jason's charred body. Immediately, he galloped across the torn field and made his way to them.
"Dad..." His deep voice was heard
Jason opened his eyes, "Shit...." He said, "How the fuck is my black light hurting me...?"
"We'll worry about that later!" Erza told him as Erion reached them, "Erion, where's Natsu and Gray??"
Erion looked around, sniffing the air, "Ah...." He said, "Over....there...!"
He pointed towards their right with his snout.
Erza nodded, "Okay, dear." She said with a smile, "Go get them, okay? Make sure they're not hurt too badly. Do not, and I mean this, little brother, do not fight okay? Me and your dad will recuperate and strike back."
Erion looked at Jason who was slowly healing his wounds, "Dad...?" He said, "Are....you.....mad?"
Jason slowly looked up at him, "Huh?" He said, "N-No...buddy, I'm not mad at you.....do what your sister asked, alright? I'll be fine."
Erion nodded, "Yes." He said as he turned around and began to gallop away
"Thank goodness he gathered his senses." Erza said, "How's your healing coming along?"
"It's getting there." Jason grimaced, "Fucking shit, August's magic hurts...."
They both looked up in the air and saw August and Maliketh clashing with their massive spectral swords. It was rather surreal seeing a massive dragon fighting a human wizard with oversized swords.
"We have to figure out what's going on, Jason." Erza said seriously
"I know." He said, "Maliketh....he was sent to kill me by the Blazing Black God.....and he's....my...."
"It's okay." Erza assured him, "Don't worry. In the meantime, we have to repel them both and regroup. This is a big deal."
Jason nodded, "I know..." He said softly, "I...."
They both then felt a spine-chilling cold as the atmosphere changed completely, the sky turning pitch black as a massive and bright moon appeared above August and Maliketh.
Erza widened her eyes, "What?!"
Jason scowled, "Not her!" He said
Over to where Erion was, where Natsu and Gray were barely getting up, he looked up and sniffed the air, "Dragon..." He said
August and Maliketh stopped what they were doing, looked up above them and saw a lone figure appear from the bright moon.
"This magic power....." August said as he began to sweat, "It's.....like Acnologia's!!"
Maliketh widened his eyes, "This scent....." He said as his sword disappeared, "N-No....it can't be....!!"
They both saw as Selene appeared, in her human form, and descended from the Moon's image, shrouded in bright silver light. Her long and luscious blonde hair fluttered in the wind as she looked down at Maliketh.
Her eyes narrowed slightly, "You..." She said softly, "You're not Kurnugi.....your scent.....your magic power....your...being...is similar to his......Who are you?"
August looked at her, "This woman..." He said
Selene glanced at him, "You." She said, "Begone."
She waved her hand and August instantly disappeared. She had used her Relocation spell on the Magic King, leaving only Maliketh with her in the air.
Jason saw this and sighed, "Well there's that...." He said
"Couldn't you do that?" Erza asked
"It's tough to use a spell like that on someone like August...." Jason said, "My Moon God Slayer Magic is mostly destructive power...."
Selene looked past Maliketh and saw Jason on the ground, in Erza's arms. She then glanced over to where Erion was, looking up at her, his piercing blue eyes. The Young Dragon did not seem to react in a hostile manner to the appearance of the Dragon Goddess.
She then looked back at Maliketh who flapped his wings and looked at her with his widened eyes, she noticed right away they were identical to Erion's piercing blue eyes.
She frowned, "It can't be.....that other young dragon is Jason's only son...." She said, "You can't be.....Wait....You, what is your name?"
"M-Maliketh..." Maliketh said shakily
She descended slowly towards him, reaching for his snout, and placed her hand on his cold steel scales. Maliketh's entire demeanor immediately switched to a much anxious one.
"Maliketh...." she said, "You......"
"You're my son, aren't you?"
