(Third Person POV)
"Oh, Genryusai!" Ichibei said as he approached the younger but still mature Genryusai, "You look good!"
The bearded monk was stroking his beard as he reached the founder of the Gotei 13. Yamamoto Genryusai had used his strength and gathered all the powerful Shinigami of the Soul Society to form the Gotei, an organization with the intention to protect the Soul Society and the balance of the Three Worlds, but that was a goal that even Yamamoto Genryusai was aware he wouldn't do easily.
This was already shortly after he became known as Genryusai, after Sasakibe Chojiro displayed his Bankai and gave him the iconic scar.
"Ichibei-dono." As he sat on a log, Yamamoto said, "What brings you here?"
Ichibei laughed, "Oh, I came to check on you guys!" He said, "Well, we did."
Behind Ichibei, Nimaiya Oetsu, Senjumaru Shutara, and Tenjiro Kirinji stood. These powerful Shinigami would later be known as the famous Royal Guard; Squad 0. Ichibei had recruited Tenjiro just recently.
Tenjiro had a large toothpick on his mouth, "Oi, Yamamoto!" He said as he walked over to him, "Where's Yachiru? She missed her healing techniques lesson today!"
Genryusai gave him a serious look, "What of it?" He said, "I am not her babysitter, Tenjiro. Look for her yourself."
Tenjiro scowled, "You...." He said
"Easy, Tenjiro-san." Senjumaru said as she walked past them, "Yamamoto Genryusai isn't someone you want to mess with, not currently."
Genryusai merely watched as Senjumaru made her way to where Genryujin, Genryusai's young grandson was training; In a clearing outside the Yamamoto School.
Tenjiro scowled as he rubbed his neck, "I'll look for Yachiru myself then..." He muttered as he walked away
Nimaiya Oetsu walked past Ichibei and strutted towards Genryusai.
"Hehe, Yo, Genryusai!" Oetsu said with a smile, "How's Ryujin Jakka!"
Genryusai looked at Oetsu, "Fine, I suppose." He said, "Nimaiya-dono, my concern is not my Zanpakuto....rather his..."
He gestured at Genryujin who was swinging his sword in the air, practicing sword slashes as he maintained an Iai stance. He was young, and had the appearance of a young teenage boy.
"Oh..." Ichibei said, "So young Genryujin has yet to awaken his Zanpakuto?"
Genryusai nodded, "He's mastered the art of the blade, but he has yet to awaken his Shikai." He said, "I worry for the boy..."
"Yo, Genryusai..." Oetsu said, "That Asauchi is legit, man. Look, all I gotta say is the way he treats his Asauchi, I haven't seen anything like it. He respects the hell out of his sword, yo. It's beautiful, I can tell, from here. He wants to be strong."
"He wants to." Genryusai said, "But to think that-"
"His Reiatsu control when wielding his blade is precise, Genryusai." Oetsu said seriously, "He is control, it's like he's making up for the lack of shikai. He's going to be strong, relying on his sword ability."
"I get your concern, Genryusai." Ichibei said, "But here's the thing about your grandson...."
"What is?" Yamamoto asked
Ichibei leaned in and pointed at Genryusai's heart, "He has yet to find himself." He said, "A Zanpakuto is an extension of a Shinigami, as Oetsu has constantly said before. He created every single one of them. He's pouring his reiatsu in it, his soul into his blade. But until he finds himself, it'll be difficult to hear its voice."
"Because he won't hear his own voice..." Yamamoto said as Ichibei straightened up, "The poor boy. He lost his mother at a young age....he barely remembers her....."
"Your daughter?" Ichibei said, "That was a tragic thing."
Genryusai closed his eyes, as if mourning the fact, "I mean well for him." He said, "But I guess I can be too hard on him. I want him to be strong, for him to survive in this world."
"An overprotective grandfather? Who would've thought the brutal Genryusai would be that?!" Oetsu laughed, "You're a riot, man!"
Ichibei chuckled, "I have no doubt that Genryujin would be stronger than you want him to be." He said, "His soul is powerful! He is your blood after all!"
Yamamoto looked over at Genryujin, the young boy was to focused in his practice that he never noticed Senjumaru behind him, watching his form.
"I hope so." Genryusai said
"Where's his sister?" Oetsu said, "Now her zanpakuto is something to be proud of!"
"She's managing my Squad." Yamamoto said, "It's difficult maintaining order with these unruly criminals."
"Tell me about it." Ichibei said, "But if someone can put order in this place, Genryusai, it's you."
Over to Genryujin, the young boy felt Senjumaru's presence a bit too late.
"Huh?" He stopped his sword swings and looked back at her, "You...."
Senjumaru smiled slightly, "Hello, Genryujin, my boy." she walked over and patted his cheek, "You look well."
Genryujin frowned, "Senjumaru-san." He said, "What're you doing here?"
Senjumaru chuckled, "I came to see my beloved nephew." she said, "How's your training?"
"Alright, I guess." Genryujin said as he sheathed his blade, "I've gotten better at controlling my reiatsu along with my swings. I think I can fight hollows properly, even the Menos Grande. No, I know I can kill a Gillian with ease, Aunt."
"I'm glad." Senjumaru said as she placed her hand on his shoulder, "Come, let's go eat something, dear. I will call Shirahoshi to join us."
"Nee-san is busy." Genryujin said as they both made their way inside, "Gramps told her to manage his squad while he trains me..."
"Ah, who cares? Genryusai is but a fool." Senjumaru said
"I heard that, Senjumaru!!" Genryusai bellowed from afar
Senjumaru stopped and looked back at him, "Do something about it." She dared
Genryusai scowled, "You dare...."
"Let's take it easy, now...." Ichibei said, "Go on, have some food, Senjumaru. We won't keep you from your nephew and niece."
"Good." Senjumaru said, "For my brother's memory, I shall spend time with his children, do you have a problem with that, Genryusai?"
"No..." Genryusai said, "But show me respect, Senjumaru."
"Very well." Senjumaru said as she gently pushed Genryujin inside, "My apologies, Genryusai, but call Shirahoshi for some lunch and tea. At once."
She then closed the door behind them.
"That woman..." Genryusai muttered
"She's a handful alright." Oetsu said
"When it comes to your grandchildren, Genryusai..." Ichibei said,
"She's fierce."
