Magnolia, Fiore
In the Fairy Tail Guild Hall, Makarov sat in his seat as he looked down at the floor with a grim face. He was in deep thought when Laxus approached him.
Laxus was heavily bandaged, he hadn't fully recovered from the injuries he received during his fight with Jason.
"Gramps." He said
Makarov looked up at him, "Laxus." He said, "How're your wounds?"
Laxus nodded, "They'll be fine." He said, "That bastard actually got me good."
"That's good." Makarov said, "I recommend for you to rest a bit more."
"I will." Laxus replied, "But Gramps, I heard...."
Makarov nodded, "Yea." He said, "These are troubling times...."
They were referring to the potential war with Alvarez and their interest in Jason. Makarov had been pondering what the future would hold if the Alvarez Empire would manage to recruit Jason. He knew that he was a powerful ally and if he ever became an enemy, things would not be so easy, especially considering that Alvarez is after Lumen Histoire.
"We ought to do something about him then." Laxus said, "We need to secure him as a permanent ally of ours. If the enemy gets ahold of him-"
"Don't worry about that, Laxus." Makarov cut him off, "I've considered the possibilities. But luckily for us, Jason has already built some bonds with many of our members."
"Bonds?" Laxus frowned, "You call those bonds? All he did was spread his debauchery."
"That same debauchery you speak of is the reason he holds our female members in high regard, especially Lucy, Mirajane, Levy, and Juvia." Makarov said seriously, "If it were not for that, he wouldn't even consider helping us in our time of need. Jason may have had his reasons and motives, but at the end of the day, he proved himself a friend and an ally. I will not allow you to say otherwise."
Laxus sighed, "Fine." He said, "But what if he's swayed by Alvarez? What then? What could we possibly do against him if he were to become our enemy? He's a danger, Gramps, that much you know. We don't know what his true goal is. We don't know if we can fully trust him. Yes, he does care about the well being of the girls, but the reason for that is solely because they can give him sex. Stop defending the guy and open your eyes."
Makarov was about to say something when Lucy approached them.
"You're wrong Laxus." Lucy said
They both looked at her.
Laxus frowned, "What are you talking about?"
Lucy looked at Laxus with a serious face, "I believe in Jason." She said, "There's no ulterior motive for him caring. It's not because of the sex we 'give' him. Jason is a good person at heart, he truly cares for us, not just us girls, but everyone in this guild."
Makarov looked at her, "Are you sure, Lucy?" She said
Lucy nodded, "Jason and I....." She said, "Our relationship is complicated, but I did spend many nights with him. Yes, Master, it was sex, I admit that. But there were moments of vulnerability. Moments where I saw his true colors. He's not a bad person. You see his persona of someone who doesn't care about anyone but himself, someone who just goes around causing trouble....but Jason....."
Laxus looked at Lucy, "What are you trying to say?" He said, "That you fell in love with him and he's opened up to you?"
"Ever since Kagura had her miscarriage, I've felt guilty about even being near him." Lucy continued, ignoring Laxus's comment, "And when I spent time with him, I've noticed that there was a pain inside him. It wasn't just losing his unborn child, it was something more.....something deeper......as if there was a great pain inside him the whole time...."
Makarov looked at Lucy, "I understand..." He said, "What you're trying to say, Lucy, is that we need to connect with Jason and understand him as a whole. That way we can secure him as a friend...."
Lucy nodded, "Yes, if I can speak to him and make him understand the situation, there's nothing we should worry about." she said, "Jason just needs to be spoken to and reasoned with."
Makarov nodded, "I see." He said, "I'm glad you told us this, Lucy. This is great information. Whatever the case, we cannot let the enemy get their hands on him."
Before either Laxus or Lucy could say anything, they were approached by Mavis.
"That's quite the interesting man you've encountered." Mavis said
Lucy widened her eyes in surprise, "First Master!" She said, "You're here??"
Mavis nodded with a smile, "Yes." She said, "So this Jason, is he your friend? Or something more?"
Lucy blushed slightly, "H-He's a friend..." She said, "Only that...."
Mavis chuckled, "Oh, I'm just teasing." She said, "It's good to enjoy your youth. If not romantic, then sexual is fine."
Lucy blushed even more, "I...." She said
"That aside." Mavis said, "We have a problem, Makarov. Come with me, just you."
Makarov nodded, "Understood, First."
A couple of minutes later, Mavis and Makarov walked down the stairs to the underground basement of the guild hall. Mavis walked in front of Makarov as she was letting out a strange golden aura. It got thicker and heavier as they approached a massive door.
Makarov widened his eyes, "First...." He said
Mavis stopped before the door, "Yes, I can feel it." She said, "Magic power is leaking tremendously. It's a matter of time that the others notice it above."
She waved her hands out, causing the doors to open.
Inside the room, inside a massive purple lacrima, Mavis's true body resided. She was in state of suspended animation.
This was Lumen Histoire, Fairy Heart, the source of infinite magic power. The same magic power that Zeref is after.
Mavis pointed at the bottom of the Lacrima, "There." She said
Makarov looked at what she was pointing at and widened his eyes in shock.
"I-Impossible!!" He exclaimed
At the bottom of the lacrima, there was a large crack that was leaking out magic power.
"Indeed." Mavis said, "The seal is wavering."
"But how?" Makarov asked, "How is this possible?"
Mavis looked at Makarov, "My only explanation is that man...." she said, "Jason."
Makarov looked at her with surprise, "What do you mean?"
"He bears an immense and unique magical attribute." She explained, "Something I can't exactly describe....."
"Fairy Heart is reacting to him."
