I think this answers a lot of questions I’ve had about why the CIA seemingly accepted defunding and security breeches by the Trump admin. I kept thinking “what would Dulles have done in this situation?” But it was a rhetorical question because we all know he would have JFK’d Trump’s fat orange ass. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not a CIA fan and I truly hope Dulles is burning somewhere for all eternity along with Kissinger. If I’m understanding this interview right, the CIA is largely defanged and many of those dirty deeds the CIA did have been reassigned to these special operations military groups that are more under executive power and less a rogue fiefdom like Dulles’ CIA. Is that correct?

I finished the book this weekend and I couldn't stop turning back to look at the mugshot of William Levigne and feeling a deep sadness and compassion for him. I was from exactly the same background and shared many of the traits of these guys (in fact, an in-law of mine just join the Dboys). If I hadn't found punk or read a newspaper and alt press, this would have been such an obvious path for someone who wanted to "make a difference" and had some kind of drive. They join up as kids and they dont really know that its all a racket. These guys are told they're doing the right thing by everyone - every where I've seen my operator friend, even liberals are waiting fawningly to ask him about his expertise. And like many people, they don't find out until their 30s how much their ambition and good intention have been used by the worst actors. Billy, Mark, Tim could have been doing so many wonderful things for this country, but instead they dealt drugs and killed people. I pray for them and their families. They didn't deserve to live and die that way
