Part 1 of a series on using Trim Sheets to create SCIFI
🕑 Added 2024-01-24 07:51:38 +0000 UTCHey folks, here's the first video of a series where I'm using FLEX to create some really cool sci-fi models The two images shown at the beginning of that video use the exact same material which includes a height map, a diffuse map and an emissive map. The object on the left is a basic cylinder and the object on the right is the default cube.
I'll be sharing the maps I make as well as the objects and materials exclusively with you guys, so stay tuned. :-)

Yeah, if you want that kind of difference you'll have to do something with uvs.

Well I guess all wood is technically anisotropic, but I was really meaning from a visual point of view and how the layers on the side of plywood are very distinctive and can only be in one direction versus the plain(not layered) imagery of the (typically) top faces of plywood. - If that makes any sense! Interesting. I'll need to take a look. I have never heard of anisotropic wood.

One thing that i wondered when you speak about how your wooden materials respond well to cutting, is whether you have had any success generating anisotropic woods. I think you did a video about metals, but I use a lot of plywood in my makes and it would be good to get some accurate visualisations and so wondered if you would be able to add a plywood material that worked as well as your Other wood materials do. I always find trying to create a plywood material v difficult and use some poor and laborious fudges. Or is this some thing that can be better solved with UVs? Any guidance appreciated.
