An update
🕑 Added 2023-02-23 11:10:35 +0000 UTCHi everyone. It's been a while since I last updated you all on the progress of Chapter 5.
As of now, the build containing the first half of Chapter 5 is essentially complete. It contains a fully functional new Haremon, a new H scene and selfie, a new dungeon, a new puzzle mechanic, a major boss fight, tons of new moves, and a couple of quests, including some major plot revelations, story CGs, and some emotional scenes that I'm really proud of. It's a fairly sizeable chunk of story, even being just the first half of the chapter. This final chapter has a lot going on.
Unfortunately, I have run into some major issues relating to the technical limitations of the engine, which I'm sure many of you have experienced yourself in the form of memory allocation crashes. As some of you may know, Haremon is created with Game Maker Studio 2, which is a fairly awful engine for the kind of game Haremon is, but it's what I knew how to use when I started the project and at this point I'm stuck with it. The problem is that at this point, with thousands of graphical assets and thousands of voice clips, I've essentially reached the upper limit of how much data the engine can handle, meaning that it's become nearly impossible for the game to even compile and run with all of the graphics and sound intact.
I've spent the last few days trying various methods of dealing with these limitations, and have made some progress, but I have no idea how long it will take me to completely figure out how to overcome these issues. It could be a few days, or it could be a few weeks. It pains me to have this build essentially content-complete but unable to release it due to technical issues, but I assure you all I'm doing everything in my power to figure out how to fix this so you can all play the new content as soon as possible.
As usual, I want to thank you all so much for your continuing support, especially in these long stretches of development without a new build. I don't take it for granted that you are all continuing to support me even when I have nothing new to post for a while, and I assure you I'm doing everything I can to make sure this chapter lives up to your support and expectations.
