Re-introduce Cursed White main characters

Then I realized, I'm not only bad at simplifying a drawing but also briefly introducing through texts. So uh, why not just re-introduce them as best as I can? Not sure how Patreon will compress the images so if you can't read it clearly, you can download them from attachments.
前幾天有粉絲寫信提到，上個月畫的自創角(白夜的阿鴞)有沒有啥背景故事，她很有興趣想知道。然後我才猛然醒悟，我不單很不會簡化畫面，連簡明扼要介紹自家OC都很苦手，那乾脆能掏的通通都掏出來好啦。話說Patreon可能會壓縮圖片，如果看不清楚只好麻煩下載附件來看。
The previous post of the owl boy is like 'Here's my OC, deal with it.' and really lacking any coherent context. So to put it briefly, I had made comics of an original story 'Cursed White' (白夜) during 2008-2012. There were three books being self-published but was abruptly discontinued. At that time I was feeling bad about my poor ability to be consistent and not able to find the motive to complete the ill-prepared stories. And most of all, feeling sorry for my supportive fans who were disappointed that it could never be finished.
七月po的阿鴞線稿，啥介紹都沒有，想想沒有前後文大概不可能讓多少人有興趣了解他和背景。呃總之，他來自我在2008-2012年間畫的自創漫「白夜」，這部漫畫其實第二集就算斷尾了，第三集算失敗的嘗試。當時對自身能力感到絕望、也無法找到動力完成後續的故事，對失望的讀者更是感到很抱歉。
Before getting into more depth of it, I need to clarify first, that there is no guarantee about this story will be continued or not, just want to share on patreon since a decade ago my English wasn't good enough to discuss with foreign fans. Now I might just randomly take it lightly, adding some extra thoughts, or occasionally make some doodles of it. But chances are still that Cursed White won't be a completed story and I will focus on doing DanCre or other stories.
在繼續深入介紹之前，先聲明我之後八成還是不會繼續補完這部漫畫，但不忌諱偶而當做興趣，寫寫設定畫畫塗鴉之類，總之請不要抱太多期望嗚嗚嗚。十多年後的今天算是有能力用英文聊比較複雜的概念，索性就放上來現醜。之後我還是會以繼續畫DanCre相關或其他自創為主。
Anyway, here are the plots:
好啦終於可以來囉唆真正的故事內容：
The owl boy has a name '冴炎' (Huh Yan), the name itself means cold and flame. He was an orphan and while being just a stray kid wandering in the woods he tried to hunt a white owl, but accidentally found the owl was actually a demigod and got cursed since that day. Corpse spores grew on his body, and he needs to kill one person every night, or he will be devoured by the spores. The first person he killed was his best friend at that time. He gradually lost his humanity and eventually became a cold-blooded killer who was seen as a 'demon owl' by nearby citizens.
阿鴞本名「冴(唸作護)炎」，冴為冱的異體字，意指寒冷。童年在外流浪時曾嘗試想獵殺一隻雪鴞賣錢，但那隻鴞原來為半神，因而遭到詛咒，被屍芒花孢寄生，必須每日殺死一人，否則就會被孢子吞噬。年幼的他為求活命，第一個下手對象挑了對他最沒有戒心的好友。接下來的日子他逐漸喪失人性，被人們稱作鴞魔。
The story plot starts at 44 years after he being cursed, and introducing a new female character named 蟒川藥 (Maang-Chuan Yaw) being his agent of assassination business. They had cooperated for 4 years, and one day Yaw reveals her true identity (daughter of the ex-lord of the fortress ) and asked him to assassinate her own brother 蟒川治 (Maang-Chuan Jyh).
故事跳到被詛咒44年後的冴炎，和蟒川藥合作經營殺人事業已滿4年。某天藥對他揭露自己何以找上冴炎的原因，藥原為蟒川城(前)城主之女，她接近冴炎目的是要他殺死自己的兄長蟒川治。
The plot then turned back to the story of Yaw and Jyh and other characters around them. Most plots are about some of them also being cursed, not by accident but by betrayal members among a clan that they had bounded with. Eventually the situation got worse and Jyh, who had been cursed as well had lost his morality similar like Huh Yan, so Yaw escaped from their home and trying to find the right person who can confront Jyh. Among Jyh and Yaw there is a character named 荒埠哀(Huang-Buh Ai) who had good relations with both the siblings but then decided to follow Yaw and support her agenda, despite Jyh had once saved Ai's life.
接著故事跳回數年前的蟒川兄妹，解釋蟒川治從正常人→受到詛咒→逐漸喪失理智的過程。(還沒畫完就斷尾了)在這對感情不好的兄妹中間有個角色：荒埠哀，曾經和治交情匪淺，甚至被治救過一命，但後來卻選擇支持藥的刺殺計畫。本來計畫想在這部份製造劇情高潮，但當時真心感到苦手太難畫。
Overall Cursed White is not a story about romantic relationships, but actually a story about letting go and forgiveness. I was mainly inspired by my all-time favorite manga Dorohedoro to create a story set on a fictional world that is full of gore, violence and tragedies but also has many quirky and funny moments.
然後呢看到這邊應該感覺得出來，白夜是一部很裝正經的漫畫，也沒有愛情戲，了不起就是隱約能感覺到哀和治好像是官配(揍)。當時多半是受到自己最喜歡的漫畫「異獸魔都」影響，想創作一個血腥和恐怖的架空世界、故事走BE向，但又充滿搞笑幽默的段子。

一些額外設定：
- Yaw used to call Huh Yan 'A-Shaw' (阿鴞), I don't know how to translate the way she called it but it approximately means 'owl boy'.
- Ai doesn't like people calling his name because in Chinese '哀' (sorrow) makes him feel too feminal. People usually called him 'Bow-Shu' (爆叔). 爆 means 'explosive', 叔 means 'uncle'.
- The world doesn't refer to any specific culture, their name was pronounced in Chinese rather than Japanese, but in Chinese culture no one has those kinds of family names. Overall it just has the feel of uh...traditional East Asia, plus a bit of steam-punk and zombies LOL.
- 藥習慣叫冴炎「阿鴞」。總之就是個隨口謅出來的綽號。
- 哀不喜歡別人叫他本名，所以他自取綽號為「爆」，蟒川兄妹都叫他爆叔。
- 白夜的世界觀並沒有嚴格基於任何一種文化創造，整體上大概就是...傳統東方世界感(很隨便)，名字姓氏完全是瞎掰，夾雜一點陰屍路類型的殭屍和蒸氣龐克感(還是很隨便)。
就算看起來好像我很嫌棄這部作品，其實比較像是又愛又恨啦。感覺這輩子不會再做出第二部衝擊感這麼強烈的角設和故事了。

Glad you like those concepts! It has a lot more Japanese young adult manga vibes compared to what I am doing now haha XD I'm still seeking to be motivated to focus on storytelling. I did tons of comics only for fun when I was a kid (very poorly drawn of course) and a decade ago I started creating this story based on the same mindset. Then I felt that mindset can't bring myself further attached to the story so I was eventually running out of motivation. Maybe it's not a bad idea to keep some favored concept and started from scratches again...
Aww thank you for patiently reading through all of them! I guess I'll still keep them and wait for myself to be confident enough to pick it up again. Let's hope those concepts will be able to age well XD
This is so cool! I didn't know you had a whole world and story developed for these characters. I love the designs. Even if you never finish it, I think the concept is really cool. I would absolutely love to see an artbook of these characters.
I read through all the OC charts and I have to say your world and character-building are great! Love dark and complex stories that break common tropes, so I hope you keep this even if you have no immediate plans to complete it. Obviously if you ever publish it I would buy it *_*
Oh my, I feel so thankful and frightened that people here actually remember this publishment. Damn I wish I have the same energy as I was a decade ago. I probably lingering about in the 'being skillful' world for too long and should have dive back to care about the content more. I still have some energy to randomly doodle about it, but the stories itself needs so much fixing it's still kind of beyond me haha *sob*
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this and share your OCs, I remember seeing them 8 years ago and being blown away by how detailed they were and loved the variety of characters you had in your lineup. I wish I could of purchased a copy myself, but I couldnt at the time. If you ever decide to revisit it I would buy the comics or artbook in a heartbeat.
