Thirteen years[midsize]
🕑 Added 2025-10-17 03:58:24 +0000 UTCI started this painting in april of 2012, yes, 2012. and then in the infamous hard drive failure of 2012 and my subsequent devastation at losing many Emain files, I stopped painting so the colored sketch of her rotted. But in happenstance while looking for images of space/ocean the other day I found her, sitting right there in her unfinished glory and I said
it's time

Valefor is my favorite summon in ffx and my second favorite overall, right under ff8 bahamut and just before ff8 quetz. in ffx valefor symbolized trust and love and hope and in these dark times, I wanted to lean into that symbol. I DID record the process however, it's only post 2012 as the original file was a .sai and thus had no recording ability. I'll get around to making the video eventually so you can see what I did from the existing sketch. [FUCK] just saw that even though I did hit record, the file is a psd and so clip studio said "haha no you didnt" ;C fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I had turned that shit on HOURS AGO. I recorded like 9 hours or more of painting. FUCK.
also fun fact, valefor originally had swirl markings on her thighs in the original ps2 game, her hoops hanging from her wings also originally held an image of her fayth. in the remaster the thigh markings were entirely removed and her fayth talisman was changed into a lantern. aka fuck enix they love to ruin squaresoft original content.
I do not do fanart often, but I have always and will always love Valefor and so she continues to be an exception to my anti-fanart stance.

I'm so annoyed lmao. I knew her forehead horns were supposed to be white and I recolored them 3 times from gold to white to gold to white then back to gold but whitish. I went and looked at her summon cgi sequence during the seymourpingas wedding scene and they ARE WHITE.
