I finally finished my painting! Whew! This one took a while!! Itโs been a while since I painted a detailed storefront scene let alone a city! I wanted to do a wintery atmosphere but it ended up looking too Christmas-y so I decided to just go for an evening scene!๐โจ
I really enjoyed imagining the stores and streets where witches would hang out! I thought it might be nice to blend modern shopping with magical witchy elements! This scene is also inspired by my sister and me! She recently moved to Vancouver for 6 months so Iโm going to miss her a lot!
I might do more of these in the future and explore more concepts like this since it was quite fun!
To be honest, part of the reason why it took so long for me as Iโm having a hard time finding excitement in my ideas. I sketched a lot of ideas before settling with this one. And even then I thought to myself, โIs this good enough?โ (Silly, I know) but I think what helped me was I took the time to tackle areas of the painting and find excitement in the little things like painting the girls or painting the shop signs which helped a lot.
But as you can see in the earlier stages, I kept making changes to the atmosphere and composition.
I might take the time to do some quick sketches in my next painting and tackle something more simple and just let myself go in my next painting! ๐๐งก

Aww thank you so much Celeste!! That makes me so happy to hear that ๐ฅบI definitely put too much unnecessary pressure on myself sometimes so I'll have to learn to just have fun! I really appreciate your kind words!! ๐ฅฐ

The whole atmosphere is so lovely, I wish I could just take a stroll through these streets ๐ Also, draw whatever makes you happy, for how ever long it takes, whether it's a complicated/detailed or a much simpler scene! What matters is the joy that the process and the end result bring YOU โก for me personally, I'll always be amazed by your work, no matter what ๐
