Manwhore vs Femboy (Test scene)
🕑 Added 2025-04-21 08:35:20 +0000 UTCThis is a scene from the first episode of the Pleasure Island Tournament Arc series I have been posting about recently. At the moment it's 9 episodes, and this scene represents about 1/6 or 1/7 of episode 1.
My original idea when making this was to make it in greyscale with very limited animation, something between an animatic and a comic.
But after drawing most of it I found it kinda dull to watch and decided to colour it.
The idea was to make an action scene as fast as I could with limited animation and see if it comes out watchable:
- Action on 4s (1 drawing per 4 frames where ordinarily I would use a mix of 1s and 2s)
- Characters drawn simply in action scenes, no highlights, shading, coloured pupils etc.
- Background are all vectors (as opposed to painted which looks better but takes longer)
- Avoid character animation up close
- Fernando only has body hair in closeups.
If I made this at my usual level of detail it definitely would have taken longer, but this still took me around 2 weeks to make, so I'm not sure if the experiment was successful or not.
I think if I was going to commit to it though I would paint elements of the background that are re-used a lot like these mountains and palm trees and clouds.
My issue is that even working at a simpler level it would still take me well over a year to make the series. I'm unsure if I have the mental strength to make such a large project, or if I can afford to. I will gauge how people react to this short and decide later.
Did you find this watchable and would you want to see more if it was animated at this level?
The job I've been working on since last October appears to have ended in a weird way a few weeks ago, so my patreon is returning to active when the timeout ends before the end of this month. Thanks again for being so patient over the last 6 months. I'm working on CRAB TAB again.

It wasn't ideal, they promised they would send work 4 or 5 times and never did. I didn't trigger patreon on April 1 because I thought they were sending me work imminently so I didn't earn any money in April.

Ended in a weird way, huh? Hopefully not a particularly bad way, but it was just a little bit ago that you said it was extended.
