Shisui/Loulan will always be my favorite character in this series

There is no chance of of the children surviving. The whole clan that rebelled against the empire will be executed. Not to mention if the kid were to be spared, they could end up growing up with resentment against the empire. Shisui knows that everyone will be executed including the children and herself, so she gave the children a merciful death free of suffering. This has been my favorite anime series so far.
