Like a lot of Japanese comedies, every character’s name is a pun that gives away what their personality is (and/or what to expect from them). Here are the names given in episode 1: Aijo Rentaro: Reading the kanji as-is gives you “Love Castle, Love-Taro” (with “Taro” being the generic Japanese male name - the “Joe Bloggs” of Japanese). His name has both of the kanji meaning “love” in it, one as the first character in his first name and the other as the first character in his last name. Put together, those characters spell out “Ren’ai” which is the Japanese word for the (kind of) ultimate, most powerful, form of love (the kind of love those 80s power ballads sang about). Hanazono Hakari: Her name comes from the verb “hakaru”, which means to calculate or to measure (depending on the kanji used), or to scheme or plot. Her family name means “flower garden” Inda Karane: When read out, her name sounds like the stereotypical line said by tsundere girls in manga (not a translation, but the stereotypical phrase for tsunderes in English would be “It’s not like I…”, so something like that). It’s possible that her first name, Karane, can be taken to mean “Spicy, isn’t it?” (And by “possible” I mean my friend said it’s definitely true, but I don’t see anyone else saying it). In the same vein, according to an online dictionary, the first kanji of her first name has a secondary meaning of “exaggeration” or “lie”, but that is a little obscure and might just be a coincidence.

Totally agree with the comments by both of you at the end. Yes it’s a huge heram anime, BUT it just has a lot of fun with all the comedy aspects and references to other anime. Also it doesn’t take itself seriously which works for this

Think of this show like My Dress up Darling : it does have degeneracy parts but it's well balanced with a lot of wholesome and funny moments. It's a rollercoaster of emotions :)
