I hope that after the movie, season 3 will be announced. There is so much more greatness in the manga that wasn't included in seasons 1 and 2. Their relationship is literally relationship goals.

It does feel a bit weird to be introducing characters late in the season (especially when the show is about to end) but you're right in that the manga is ongoing so these characters being introduced is just like any other chapter in the manga. That said, te shake up these characters provide does help facilitate some the finale, so look forward to that.

There will 100% be a season 3. The show and manga are very popular. There was an exhibit this year where they made props to recreate rooms from the manga/anime with large panels from the manga on the walls. Was really cool.

Another bit of fun trivia... Kobayashi and Hanzawa were the first ever characters from a oneshot LONG ago, before the dangers manga. Which is why they mentioned being friends in elementary school.
