With MaoMao being who she is I think this was always going to be a very slow burn to get her to where she can develop/admit she has real feelings for Jinshi. But I think this episode is a big start to getting there. She can't just write him off as the beautiful eunuch anymore as much as she still wants to to avoid things getting complicated. Also side note but MaoMao's tolerance to aphrodisiacs being so high she can eat and drink whatever she wanted compared to Basen getting KO'd from one drink was funny as hell.
