A little detail from the time they captured that I like is the bracelet Askeladd gives away. If you look at it, every few inches there's an indentation where it's made to be easily breakable. So it's a piece of jewelry that doubles as easily tradeable goods.

thorfin hit thorkel in the jaw which is where thors 1 hit him and gave him a weak jaw so if someone lands a good hit there he just goes down

Thorfinn hit Thorkell in the chin. It's a common weakspot. If you hit it to the side with enough force it rattles the brain and makes them lose balance. Hence why Thorkell was able to get up after being further attacked.
