She had names for them, the same names they were calling each other by whenever she was listening, they never used any other names when she could hear them. There was never any impetus for her to ask them for their real names. They talked about the cat, she didn't have name for the cat, so she asked, that's all it is. E.g. if you are on voice playing with a guild/clan and someone brings up their pet it's completely normal that you might ask for the pets name before asking that person for their real name. Hell when I started working at my current job there were people I only knew by their nickname for months before actually learning their real name, if they ever brought up they had a pet I might have asked for their pets name before their real name. It's a very normal thing and imho if she just randomly asked for their names before this point you can be sure there would be some "why do you care, you don't need to know" sentiment coming from at least some of the 86.
