Katara so often takes on the responsible motherly role in the group. Even if it makes her the party pooper at times, she keeps everyone safe and on track and does so much for keeping the group together. That makes it kind of easy to not realize just how much she's grown as a bender and fighter since that's not usually the focus of her character. This episode though, she nearly wins a 1v1 with Azula! Absolutely insane.
