The new ending is the second half of the song from the first ending. It's set up almost as a question/answer sort of thing. Hence, "And you alright?" -> "And I'm alright." and "Can you hear me?" -> "Yeah, I hear you." The song's lyrics are really moving and beautiful, and the artist who sings it, Milet, gave an incredible voice to the lyrics. If I'm listening to the song and reading the lyrics simultaneously, I WILL cry, 100% of the time.

You mentioning Fern made me realize that the girl with the red ribbon in the ending was Fern when we first met her. I almost forgot she had a big red ribbon back then.
