One of the most satisfying episodes of any anime ever! It was a delight to watch your reaction, thank you.

I really enjoyed what you said about the flashback scenes in anime. Most of the time I get a little bit annoyed by them, however Frieren's flashbacks leave me wanting more. Which is a rare beauty.

One of the best line deliveries I’ve ever seen in anime

so real. the way this episode pushes the narrative forward is expert-level writing. i remember when i watched it for the first time, it became clear within 8-10 mins in how freiren was going to defeat aura. the most savvy watchers may have even figured it out from the fern/lugnor exchange. what makes the writing and pacing of this ep so great is, regardless of when you pick up on the conceit of the reveal, every flashback still adds something new to flesh out the lore and mechanics of magic in this world. like when flamme is using the metaphor of how humans dress up to show important within an organizational hierarchy -- it doesn't matter if you already know HOW frieren is going to dispatch of aura, this flashback contextualizes why this works.

That POV of Aura's head rolling while falling then the shot of Frieren's back as she walks away, that was cold af.

It's not cockiness on the part of Aura. She clearly sees Frieren's mana, which is not showing the fluctuations of being supresses. She had Frieren expend a bunch of mana fighting before she brought out the scales. She knows Frieren was not a big name before she helped take out the demon king. It all lines up with her not being an incredibly powerful mage. Aura was being cautious, she just did not assume Frieren has been practicing suppressing her mana for so long that it is basically undetectable, because to her mind, and the minds of other non-demons, doing that is a waste of time and doesn't make sense. Aura was actually being cautious, not cocky, it's just that Flamme and Frieren went to extraordinary lengths because they knew that's what it would take to trick demons.

Cara’s “The fact that it feels smart” nails how well this anime handles flashbacks. We just need a couple of sentences to send home the impact of these moments!

I promise, it only gets better!

This just might be the best anime ever made. Season 2 will decide it for me

I agree, the KYS moment feels like she just completely disregards Demons, because she does. I also like that wording because it's an actionable command. If Frieren just said "Die", nothing may have happened. Also, Prez's beard comment reminded me I need to trim up. Cheers!

I dont know if you guys noticed it, but the way frieren kills demons is like poetic justice Qual with his own spell modified to kill his kind The thread dude by showing him his threads suck Aura by her own scale

You might have already realized this while editing but the quick scene succession were of the original 4 -Battling Qual (Zoltraak inventor) -Encountering a solar drageon in the same valley -Facing Aura, you can see Himmel slashing her. Probably breaking from the spell temporarily like the son. -Demon King’s castle. BTW, I’m new here. Really enjoying your reactions 😁
