Regarding recognizing Frieren, my guess is that it’s related to not knowing much about elves. As they mentioned this episode, not many people even encounter elves, so they may think that she looks like the mage from the hero’s party, but it couldn’t possibly be Frieren. It’s been eighty years, that mage would look elderly

based on the last 7 episodes, Frieren is 1000+ years old, when you see her with her master from 1000yrs ago she barely looks younger than current time. so who knows how old she is exactly.
