Seeing how good of a character killua is always makes me appreciate Gon bc he unlocked killua to be who he is. Gon was the first one to go and rescue killua and that was when they were the least close. Without Gon, we'd never have a chance to see this development over the course of their adventures and from a storytelling perspective it makes killua's devotion to him so realistic
