Who said those are stars though? I think they're just an effect to make her appearance flashier since I'm sure HMO knows stars don't appear on ground level

No, I think they are just perfect the way they are. I would just place them around her. When the star flashes in front of her clothes, it looks more like a firefly than a star that should be covered by her clothes / body

are they too distracting? Will it be better to tune down the flashiness to a point where they are barely noticable? Or should I just remove them?

Great work as always! And that is a cool new feature. However, it is a bit irritating when the stars flash through clothing or your body.
