RJ Patreon Producer Cherish, here! Some of you may recognize me from my days as the RocketJump Film School creative producer and I'm stoked to be back in the metaphorical saddle. I wanted to jump in and extend a warm welcome to the burgeoning community of film lovers and curious cats that we’re gathering under this cool little corner of the internet. It’s a wild yet incredibly exciting time to be traversing the indie film landscape and we’re happy you’re here with us.
Let’s get into it! Here’s an update on what we’ve been up to in early pre-production days and a hint at what’s on the immediate horizon:
LOCATION - One of our biggest projects at the moment is finding a warehouse space in Los Angeles to use as Nail House HQ. The goal is to have a large workspace for rehearsing, working out choreography, and eventually building sets for the film. We’re a few weeks into the process so prepare for updates on location scouting and footage of everyone walking around big, empty spaces!
THE SCRIPT - As you might have seen in the post with the NH scripts, Will and Matt are in the thick of a new draft. Anticipate more writing updates as those story boys get closer to the next version.
ACTION CHOREOGRAPHY & TRAINING - You may have heard Matt and/or Freddie mention the uber-talented Yung Lee's involvement with Nail House but if not, he’s one of the first folks to sign onto the film. Yung is a very accomplished action designer with credits on Kingsman and Shang-Chi, among many other impressive films. Yung just wrapped up work on a major studio project and he, Matt, and Freddie had their first choreo meeting. They discussed some of their core philosophies with NH’s action and have landed on the train car sequence as the first thing Yung will tackle. He’ll start working on it remotely as the other pieces of pre-pro start lining up. And the meeting was filmed, so you’ll see how some of that went! Side note: Freddie’s been getting buff and stuff in anticipation of starring in this movie! You’ll see more of that too!
WHO'S WORKING ON THIS PATREON? - A quick shoutout to Justin Yngelmo, who is filming and editing a lot of the production updates you'll be seeing here (Daddies Patreon followers will know his work from the first live tour documentary), and Olivia Cade, who is doing a ton of behind-the-scenes work on this Patreon and on the film itself (and had a role on the producing side for WAGD). There's a good chance you'll see/hear some of these great folks occasionally so now you have names to faces!
Phew, and that's just the beginning, folks. Much more on this long road to the cineplex (or who knows what else!) and I know it’ll be fun as hell. Because we’re makin’ a movie!!
