Commissioner Reward - The Value Of Meditation Part 1

Yet no matter how hard she tried she couldn't center herself. Even after climbing high above the jungle around her and far above all the worries knitting her brow and distracting her mind. There was no pushing away all the concerns of the war she was fighting nor even the most immediate concerns of the planet she'd been sent to. Meditation was simply impossible as stray thoughts constantly intruded into her mind regardless of how calm she might've been.

Only to demand countless more as she centered herself yet again, calmed her breathing, and pushed everything else away. But every squawk of a creature somewhere far in the distance, every scratchy moment of chatter between Clone troopers on patrol, every intrusive consideration broke her focus and ruined her meditation all over again. Even the simple groan of her nearly empty stomach and the other maddening necessities of her body made it impossible to do anything more than frustrate herself.
Which in turn only made it that much harder to actually follow through, constantly setting her back further and further as she felt time pass and her efforts fail more than she'd ever admit. And she was far too stubborn to simply give up and return to her own patrol. Even after she'd all but accepted she had no chance at all of finding any sort of peace. The words and admonishments of her fellow Jedi, Anakin and Master Kenobi especially, flickered through her mind every time she even considered giving up altogether. The thought of failing them and failing in her training was completely unacceptable in spite of how clear her failure already was. Only after she heard the chatter of more communications far below did she give up entirely, eagerly taking the excuse to see what or who might be walking underneath the tree she'd scaled for her meditation.
Perhaps unsurprisingly it was another Clone trooper, albeit one dressed in camouflaged armor and carrying a more advanced pack than the standard issue. But he was a Clone nonetheless and it was all but impossible to care about something so mundane. Ahsoka almost felt stupid for climbing down a few meters to get a better look at the 'disturbance' she was quietly blaming for her failed attempt at mediation. Though before she could withdraw back up to the highest branches she noticed the Clone glance at his surroundings before retrieving a communicator from her belt. Setting his weapon down at his side and leaning against the tree he activated the hologram and for a few moments it showed nothing save the blue fan of light. As if he was trying to contact someone or something and waiting for a response. Or at least that was the conclusion Ahsoka immediately jumped to as she moved in even closer, perching barely a meter above him and watching his every move. Waiting for him to reveal himself as a Separatist spy.
She even readied her lightsaber as she did, eagerly thinking, “I've got you traitor! You're not gonna get out of this one wi—”
Before she could even finish that thought a hologram of Master Secura appeared above his communicator. All the excitement coursing through her a moment ago vanished in an instant and Ahsoka very nearly groaned in frustration. Leaning against the trunk of the tree she heaved as quiet a sigh as she could and looked away from the trooper, unconcerned with what he was doing and ready to climb back high above the jungle. But on a whim she glanced back at him as she started to turn away, instantly freezing as she sensed something strange. An emotion she'd never felt from a Clone before, or at least never noticed, and one that stopped her dead in her tracks. Even before she realized he wasn't viewing a live transmission but rather watching some sort of recording. And watching far more intently than he needed to when there was no sound to accompany the footage of the Jedi Master. Only an endlessly repeated loop of her doing something entirely innocuous.
Yet as unremarkable as those actions seemed to Ahsoka the Clone trooper watching apparently took a great interest in everything he was seeing. So great an interest she watched his hand slide down his armor and towards his codpiece like it was perfectly natural.
