[May Password] & Night VI - Unaligned Zealot - Valdricht Route

If you are a Zealot who hasn't chosen to bend to The Weaver's will and happened to be kissed by Valdricht on Night V, then you can look forward to a steamy interlude, a fresh helping of lore & backstory, and a very different post-fitting scene. While this route, and really this whole night, is fairly Valdricht-focused, rest assured that the second half of Night VI and/or Night VII will open the door (read: the bed) to Serax.

Note, if you ended Night V kissing Serax, hang tight a little longer, I want to ensure that storyline is satisfying. Right now, it's just Valdricht chasing Serax off and having a whole long scene with him. If that ends up being how the first half of the night progresses, rest assured we'll still have some Serax-focused stuff in the second half of the night. I want to ensure you're able to sideline Valdricht in favor of Serax, should you choose, but Serax isn't exactly being charming enough to merit that sort of commitment, at least not with the Unaligned Zealot, sadly. It might just have to be that way, for the moment.
When I update the route, I'm going to remove the ending code that automatically routes you to the RO you have the highest bond with and let you choose which RO you want to have comfort you, that way you can easily explore both options and you also don't get baited into thinking you can seduce Serax away from Valdricht, at least this early.
I've already started implementing some changes based on the feedback from the last post. One thing I hinted at is the game modes are going to get changed. Right now, my plan is to make the Bound/Unbound distinction be closer to what it is in the free version, meaning Valdricht and Serax will be lovers regardless of mode but your sex scenes will be strictly MFM/MF in Bound Mode. The MF options will still be exclusive to the Patreon version and perhaps better, depending on how much drama you like.
This change will mean a lot less writing and coding for me, but it will also mean that the MF route(s) will have a lot of added tension should you choose to go down that path. In short, you get a homewrecker option and there will be angst galore. It won't necessarily mean completely alienating the other RO, there will be paths where you can keep the peace, but they won't make it easy for you to choose harmony.
My priority in streamlining things like this is that we're getting up to the pregnancy romance part of the story and I don't want to have to cut corners on giving unique storylines there because I'm juggling a bunch of game modes. It would be a lot easier to keep the game mode changes isolated to the sex scenes and instead focus on writing unique storylines if, as one example, you opt to have Valdricht's child in the NSFW route but you're also not reconciled with him for the whole choking thing, etc. There are so many little details I want to take time to write out, but it's hard to do that when I have to spend hours writing different passages depending on whether or not Valdricht & Serax are in a relationship. Let me know what you think about that, it's not set in stone yet and ultimately my goal is to ensure you guys have the story you want, even if it takes longer. I am not remotely near any state approximating burnout, I love this story and I'm happy to write it every day.
I'm still on track to get the NSFW Heretic route out this weekend, it's completely different from the other routes. The Heretic route will be out next week and it's similar to the Aligned Zealot route, but with some key differences. After that, I'm going to go ahead and finish the other half of the Heretic NSFW route first since it'll be the fastest. That'll likely be out next weekend.
Lastly, as for the alternate POV scene, if you are an Unbound Zealot and you submitted a profile, and you're a darksinger member, let me know so I can plug your MC into the next alternate POV scene. It'll be a darksinger member exclusive and I don't want to publish it only to realize that the MC's creator can't read it, I'd feel awful. The alternate POV scene will likely be out this weekend as well, but might get pushed to Monday if I get tangled up in code.

"He felt pretty blasé about his proposition in the standard routes, but this actually feels like it has a soul bond behind it." This perfectly sums it up. Like, ironically, this route has a more business negotiation set-up to it than the other routes, but the way Valdricht frames it ("lovers"), courts her and even listens and assures she won't be left wanting more when he's dead—I mentioned this before, but very Regency etiquette and, because there is a mutual understanding, romantic, despite quite literally being a business negotiation. And yes, how Zealot went from admitting at the beginning of the chapter how she always thought her first kiss would be from an assailant and never someone she desired, to "fine, I will fornicate with you, but on my own terms?" I'm so proud of her. (Btw, did you end up stopping Val? I surprisingly didn't, because the not-stopping-choice does eventually end with her resisting him, thus not feeling OOC, and tbh, it'd make sense she'd hesitate, since it's her first time experiencing these things... but also curse Mortish for knowing us and making it not OOC, so we had to fall into temptation 😂.) I also agree on Serax, I think it's okay for him to take a longer time to fall for MC. If immediacy is needed, perhaps a marriage of convenience or other external plot point can be introduced—like he marries her for Valdricht's sake, since she's Val's soulmate and this is how Serax can secure his protection over her when Val's gone. There can also be a darker, underlying motive where Serax wants to hurt Val like he hurt him by marrying Val's fated mate. Serax is complex, and I think it's okay to take more time to allow that complexity to unfold! And if that means withholding the MF route until the story is done so we can be of better assistance, that's 100% okay, too.

♫Goin' to the chapel and we're gonna get married~♫ First off: that password is perfect! 😆 I actually recently thought that Nythara kinda reminds me of The Illusive Man: a powerful and shady entity that speaks to my character after main missions amidst a starry cosmos, often weathering her suspicious accusations. (And I'm wondering if the only reason that man -- who respects Shepard as being the pinnacle of what humanity can achieve and is fixated on legacy-- didn't take Shepard's biological material and start making Designer Babies is because Miranda would've flipped. Maybe respect is also the reason he stopped at making a clone, but ANYWAY --) I love how Valdricht feels in this route. He felt pretty blasé about his proposition in the standard routes, but this actually feels like it has a soul bond behind it: MC pulling away despite not wanting to stop, Valdricht resisting her withdrawal but making himself let her go when he sees her pleading eyes, and him leaving without a word because he can't trust himself any more than she can. The powerwalking her to the Tea Hall to get there faster, making her cups of tea, staring at her intensely, laying himself bare by flatly admitting he wants her as a lover -- he came across as very invested here and it's nice to see another little hint of vulnerability out of him given his usual unflappability. (And I was happy that he took her for tea! I thought that might be a cute interest for MC since she can eat and drink regular food, so that was fortuitous! 🍵) The wedding negotiations were less fraught and more playful than I thought they were going to be, which is nice! Valdricht taking her on a cute date in a public place so he can pamper her a bit and help her feel more comfortable hashing things out with him shows a lot of care -- definitely needed after putting this poor inexperienced girl through the whiplash of "We're making you someone else's problem" to "I want to keep you until I die actually," lol. Working out the details of their arrangement for mutual satisfaction, looking at each other's perspective, tackling how they're gonna handle the pontiff all made for a great back-and-forth and a great preview of how they'll be as a couple. And MC finally not hearing that judgmental little voice after making her decision? 🥰 Side Note: I may be speaking out of turn on this issue since I've made it clear that Valdricht is my favorite of the two and Serax is colder to my canon MC than pretty much any other atm, but: he doesn't seem super ready to fall for MC rn. I definitely don't mind a slower burn to contrast to the whole fated obsession thing between Valdricht and MC. I know this game is about a relationship that's being forced to move quickly, but he needs a bit more time, I feel. Now that my MC is taking steps to finally maybe somewhat leave her state of extreme turmoil and confusion, it can be Serax's turn to reckon with his! And even for people who REALLY want his MF route, I think waiting longer for that lovingly made gourmet cake will be infinitely better than grabbing a twinkie for expedience, so to speak. Anyway, I'll stop rambling to maybe keep this comment from being even more massive than usual but I want to say: I felt like my concerns with these particular events were taken into account and I really appreciate it. It was genuinely lovely to play through and I'm a little giddy after completing it! 💗 We've seen MC almost Dying In [His] Arms Tonight in a bad way, now we get to look forward to her Dying In [His] Arms Tonight in a good way! ♫

Oh oh oh! Unaligned Zealot is my favourite so far! Heretic is usually my first choice either aligned or not (I am impatient for smut) but this was just *chefs kiss*. I can’t be at all helpful with opinions on mode as I am wholly Unbound all the way. I enjoy the sense of fated inevitability of Val and then the added flavour of winning over Serax and honestly I’m down for whatever the boys want 😆 I’m not really here in Patreon to shape the game per se, just to support a great writer and great story. So basically I want you to write what you want and to tell the various elements when you think is right. I’m in agreement that Serax as a single RO doesn’t make sense yet with where he is at and where the story is at, but as previously stated I’m here for Unbound and all the MFM and MMF I can get so I’m probably biased! So rambling done and just a huge thank you to you Mortish! ❤️
