🕑 Added 2025-12-05 03:58:36 +0000 UTCso as usual , cgb is still working hard on fenris high , and i recently sent him the map of the first day of the game so i'm pretty sure the next update he'll send me will be rather juicy. In the meantime i had to design the corruption of the wizards and apprentices that i showed you last time. Apparently in this world magical corruption takes the form of...
becoming glam/hair metal? also your skin starts to become jet black and you start to grow fangs and claws. Don't ask, i'm sure it'll make sense in the context of the game XD i had fun doing the research for the style tho, people in the 80s were WILD.
so of course the same corruption originates from the masters, who are a bit further in their corruption-
unfortunately these were too much glam rocker and not enough wizardy , so i had to fix them
this is the second version , with these old coots looking a bit more magicians.
next, cgb decided the left wizard and right wizard would be actual bosses for the game and asked me to make a concept study for them to understand a bit better how their costumes worked.
i temporarily named these the thunderfrost wizard
and the firewind wizard
after that cgb asked me to design a couple more npcs. Apparently in this wizard tower you'll be assaulting not all wizards are against you or corrupted. A couple of them have actually ascended and will aid two characters you meet later by giving them magical weapons that will transform them
cgb told me they should be "androgynous and angelic, and one represents the moon ,while the other represents the sun" so i went and tried some designs that would incarnate those concepts; these are the moon oracle concepts
and these are the sun oracle concepts
in the end cgb chose the right one and left one and asked me to make some modifications; since they are creatures of pure passive meditation they didn't need weapons and would be in a meditation stance, floating over their respective fountains. And that's how we got the final designs for these oracles:
