TFTC! who grizzled > grumbled (unless it’s regional slang)

iceknight90

It's so charming seeing Brock's siblings develop as individuals. Forrest as a Steel Type. Suzie as a Fairy Type. Cindy as a possible future Ice Type. Salvador as a scientist. Yolanda as the closest to Brock in style.

rezo42

Honestly, the age gap between Brock and the rest of his siblings makes me think he was a bit of an oops baby. The middle births feel more planned out. We know Lola was spiraling hard by the time the last set of twins was coming due. I doubt the problems that caused that just suddenly appeared. I think when the stress of raising 4 to 6 kids started to set in, she decided to fix it with even more children.

It is surprising what ancient civilizations did for fridges or cooling! primitive but possible earth architecture will be interesting for Brock to study to make a cool down zone, maybe areas to store ice? Like in a Yakhchal: Ancient Refrigerators be perfect the right item and break areas pocket ice terrains means Aurora can visit i bet once she evolves she can stand her ground!

PitrPatR

They already had an agreement to cooperate on any Ice/Rock types and I can imagine some situations, such as a medical emergency, where ownership would confer the ability to make decisions in a timely manner when necessary.

Oblivious Bookwyrm

“Nobody uses miles anymore, bro!” God I wish that were true here. It really takes having a math major or traveling to Europe to realize that my country’s Imperial System is dumb

carebear90

I don't see why it would have to be so complicated. Sure, a stabled Ninetales could decide to 'join in on the fun', but Brock could just acquire a few Vulpix for the family. He did the same with the two Houndour. Sure, they have the dark typing, but I haven't seen Brock mention wanting to actually train one of them up for himself. His volcano could do with some more fire types. So far, he only has Slugma, Growlithe, and the two Houndour, if I remember correctly. Not sure if you want to count Solrock as an 'honorary almost Fire type'? :D He could do with some Vulpix, Numel, and Torkoal. Heck, a volcano could even house Koffing for eventual breeding into fairy typing.

Funny idea: Brock is completly unaware, but Gio is one of the non-sponsored-by-the-Gym trainers who boards at Brock's reserve. It would also help explain why Gio had so many anti-rock methods trained for his pokemon. Yeah, Gio training them in preparation for Brock's Elite Challenge is solid reasoning, but it can be paired with the idea that these 'mon spend plenty of time in a reserve full of Rock pokemon. Picking up on Rock type strategies and their counters would be a likely by-product of staying there.

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

I kind of love it and hate it too

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

I think at the start of the story it wasn't that the kid's didn't appreciate Brock. It's more that they are now realizing how much Brock does for them because they finally have something to compare him to. For years the younger kids only had Brock and the older kids held up fuzzy ideal images of their parents. Meeting Flint and Lola is making both age groups realize that Brock being their caretaker might actually have been better for them in some ways. (Not all. But a fair amount)

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

An earlier chapter talked about how Brock couldn't find a lot of the items found in the games. Never melt ice might be a game-only mechanic. ... or maybe it's something that can be found in the nest of a Legendary? Oh! What about instead of never melt ice, someone gets their hands on an Articuno feather? Zapdos' feather gave off electric sparks. Maybe Articuno's feather could provide a cooling effect?

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

I think all the comments last chapter were taken into consideration... not one person said they wanted Roxy to win 😅 Plus, there were a few comments in earlier chapters saying they wanted a dark horse to win the Indigo Cup; someone unknown or rarely given attention in the story.

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

Ice Vulpix is gorgeous and I would love for Brock to reveal them. But it's also kinda random for Brock to own... all his other tests up to this point have been for/with Rock type Pokémon. Then again, it *is* a reserve and he rents out space for other trainer's pokemon (we've never seen them mentioned, but that would make sense because Brock would only really spend time with his pokemon not a random trainer's 'mon) Anyway, the point I was trying to get at is maybe Brock builds the reserve in preparation for other future Pokemon and to make it better for the trainer's rent out space at the reserve. But even though he didn't build it with variant breeding in mind, he finds a trainer's Vulpix spending a rediculous amount of time in the ice zone. Like, it becomes well known amongst the trainers that if you're looking for the vulpix they're in the ice zone. So, Brock uses that observation as his theory *cough*excuse*cough* for Vulpix maybe having an alt-form with an ice typing. When Brock says that, his co-researchers think it wouldn't hurt to try. Even if Ice-Fire typing sounds impossible, there are plenty of contrasting typing, so why not? But maybe this time Brock is a little more thoughtful with his approach. He doesn't just buy a bulk order of vulpix, he instead requests a trial period with some breeders and picks the vulpix who showed the most interest in staying in the ice areas (maybe the trainer of the vulpix Brock caught hanging out in the ice area even sells that vulpix to Brock?)

Alexander Gofric

Well as mentioned pokemon can be communicated with in this universe and im sure sabrina could convince some of her mr. mime to help with this breeding program. Create some kind of settlement in the valley to make them comfortable enough but still let them try to create the variant. I'm sure it wouldn't be a quick process but pokemon seem like they would acclimate pretty quickly with human assistance at that to help.

Alexander Gofric

Also besides the Mr.mime ice/psychic variant for sabrina the ice/steel sandshrew/sandslash would be perfect for forrest who is interested in steel type and the ice/fairy vulpix/ninetales would be perfect for suzie who seems to lean towards fairy types. and like I stated if Brock ever wants a rock/ice avalugg which he mentioned wanting to get very early in the fic and a rock/ice amaura for cindy the ice sanctuary is something he needs. As winter seems to be coming to kanto now according to that comment from Forrest and that there should be roaming ice types coming now would be the best time for brock to get this done and round up enough random ice type pokemon and settle them in the valley he is purchasing to make sure it can become a ice settlement year round.

carebear90

Oh, I know. She already has at least a few Mr.Mimes. And Stantler only evolved after Brock gave him to her. I was just questioning why Mr.Mime would like to live in a frozen mountain for an extended amount of time, shagging each other until an ice variant pops out. They seem pretty optimised for urban living together with humans to me. What's the plan here to convince them to become horny hermits?

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

Cindy might not specialize in ice. Maybe she will specialize in rock. Or maybe, like most people in the Pokémon world, she doesn't specialize at all and just keeps one pokemon as a companion for life?

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

Could be a mixup from Viva, or maybe Gio's got dual citizenship? He might move frequently between the two cities? Maybe he moved at one point... But yeah, probably a typo

Alexander Gofric

if brock is creating this ice sanctuary it would make sense for him to take advantage of that to help breed these rare, for kanto, variants. For sabrina to get a Mr. Rime it would make sense for Brock to just help her with that with how hard it would be for sabrina to make her own ice sanctuary when she could just help brock with his. Brock also has a history of trying to help sabrina get more pokemon for her like wyrdeer and ralts. Mr. Rime would also be perfect for her because he seems like a jokester/comedian pokemone which Sabrina ironically enjoys.

carebear90

Was there another Ice Type Cindy was interested in? To me, it looked more like 'I love pretty Pokémon' so far. Wouldn't be surprised if she'd also end up with a Dewgong at some point, though.

carebear90

I get Vulpix and Sandshrew. Vulpix because of the volcano and Anime-Brock taking care of one for a while (even if Eevee will probably get jealous), Sandshrew because Ground types are pretty much in theme with the Pewter gym. I think Forrest even used one in a Gauntlet once. But why Mr. Mime? Isn't that more something Sabrina should look into at her place? Mr.Mime doesn't really feel like 'I absolutely loooove this snowy mountain and totally prefer it over a nice cosy urban setting' to me. ^^

Alexander Gofric

Mr. Mime has a ice psychic variation from Galar that even evolves into Mr. Rime.

Jericho Rising

Guaranteed

Jericho Rising

I completely forgot about rock avalugg and did you say Mr Mime?

carebear90

I'm also a bit confused why he had to transfer ownership. Couldn't he have simply stabled her in Mahogany til he had his new 'ice biome' ready?

Jericho Rising

Pretty sure that ice cave setup he has planned for the mountain portion of the reserve will need prices feedback and pokemon to migrate.

carebear90

Hmm, I've never had much of a problem with the sisters. At least not since Suzie attached herself to Sabrina. I've more of a problem with the three younger brothers. Timmy and Tommy are kinda nondescript to me when I think about them. Cindy was always the 'girly' girl. So I'm not really surprised she imprinted on the pretty ice type. :D Suzie was the 'Fairy'-tale chaser and Sabrina's cuddle buddy. Billy and Tilly could use some more characterisation, though. They're not even a year younger than Suzie. Lola must have been really randy right after pushing out the second set of twins. Does Flint have a lactation fetish or smth? 0.o

Glitched Knights

Great job Gio! Let's see how far you'll go

carebear90

so... is Gio from Viridian or Cerulean? The who-is-who in the beginning said Cerulean, the announcer in the end said Viridian.

Glitched Knights

We're still AWAYS off before she even does anything. Let's wait and see for now

carebear90

I could remember wrong, but was there a scene with her when Brock got his Corsola?

Ben Lockwood

Wondering if Brock is going to help pryce set up some regional ice types now that Cindy seeming to want to specialize in ice types.

Stein Wenaas

Thank you for stating the correct resistsnces for amaura. I have just today finished a reread of the entire work, and there have been many times where type effectiveness have been wrong. I am guessing you double checked this time, and I apreciate that.

Alexander Gofric

Brock needs to create that ice sanctuary and then he can work on getting that rock type avalugg and get a start on also creating ice variants of vulpix sandshrew and mr mime.

torrmercury

Not counting Brock who has 1/3 of his elite team being water types?

Raptor

Did not think Gio was gonna win but hey nice surprised

9Tales

I wonder if never melt ice can be a workaround for Amaura so she can be in higher temp places

I_WANT_SOMETHING_ETERNAL

I was amused by how Cindy just decided to claim Brock's pokemon. Didn't even ask or negotiate. Lil terrorist. Younger sibling benefits. I hope his siblings are starting to appreciate their big brother more. They've had difficulties, but you can't say that Brock didn't go out to provide and make sure that all of those kids had a relatively stable, happy life regardless of the circumstances. I would adore brother if he was this Brock.

Simca

Ah. Cindy becoming a water/ice specialist. Taking after the mom was bound to happen to one of the kids

Brendan White

Nah...she's going to be a Coordinator and take the Hoeen Region by storm!

MaliMi

Honestly Gio completely slipped from my mind. Would not mind seeing his pov.

HonorBound Fate

Rock, steel, and ice. A truly SOLID combination.

Desidia

What other Pokemon was Cindy attached to?

Mr.Doctor

Will and the old Mayor are gonna be found dead in their cells five chapters from now mark my words. I endorse the potshots at Lola over being gone.

Konan2020

While I love this problem and plot resolution, I'm also sad that ahe couldn't stay

Qweku_v

Great chapter and congrats to Gio. We will be seeing more Pokémon’s in the reserve soon. But I’m sad that Amaura couldn’t stay in the reserve

Petrox

Poor Roxanne catching strays having the same typing as Brock. I guess that could be a reason of why the champion can't take many public matches. Terrorist group would study thoroughly the champion's Pokemon and act on it

Torn2.0

Is Cindy going to be an Ice specialist?

Maks

Honestly sometimes I found it hard to tell Brocka siblings apart. But with Cindy’s new friend it makes it a lot easier and gives her some much needed personality. Good choice Viva

PiezoVolt

Good chapter l. In the character sheet you said Gio calls Cerulean home but the announcer at the end said Viridian
