TFTC! I think a timeskip or lot of small timeskips should be done during the next season. Figure out the focuses and then let a lot of stuff tick away in the background until Brock gives us updates while checking mail or musing. World depth has been established. Now we can use it so things happen outside of Brock’s attention. He doesn’t need to be blindsided but he’s got plenty on his plate. As a reader I hate too many POVs which try to create tension but spoil pacing and dramatic reveals. Primeape;s > Primeape’s hit almost seer Titan > sear

Alexander Gofric

Its been alluded to so much but carbink or diancie need to start appearing in the cave

Notanautomaton

If Pikachu is unwilling to go in his pokeball he should retire from battling, the same way an NFL player who hates wearing helmets would. As it is, he's a danger not just to himself but to Ash, who would have to endanger himself to recover him. Pikachu may not take the advice, but that doesn't mean that the advice shouldn't be given.

Retribrutus

After 239 chapters worth of dealing with the Season, we are now officially at its end. Funny how so much happened in so little time. The mayor, Team Rocket's downfall, Flint returning, Brock and Sabrina getting back together, Forrest going on his journey, and Brock facing literal Legendaries. And that isn't even half of everything that happened. Although there's more to come after this like the Conference, I just want to congratulate you for making a story that managed to grip my attention for this long.

Chris

Good news is that was the last of this season. So it’ll be around 80+ chapters before the next one. Long term though I agree, I think going into the future seasons and managing all the other plot hooks, it’d mean that Brock may step down as gym leader and let one of his parents take over while he handles a future arc. Or I could see him captured/somehow transported to a lost region and have to try and brave his way back home, having a fun “cast away” vibe and forcing all the Kanto plots to continue without him for 50 chapters or so.

Chris

I’d love for this to be the baseline of their grown before they turn into Izumi level terrors since it’s still super early in ash’s Pokémon journey. Canonically Bulbasaur becomes one of the defacto leaders of ash’s Pokémon back at Oaks ranch. Give them time to get through the Orange and Johto and hopefully a rematch in 200+ chapters will showcase their true power.

Chris

While there’s a lot of reasons why it is more practical, safe, strategic and whatnot, the reality of Ash and Pikachu is that he’ll never get in the ball. Call it the foundation for their friendship, the moral of Pokémon being that you need to respect and befriend Pokémon to unlock their potential, or whatever, the one thing pikachu asks of ash is to never put him in a pokeball. Even in life threatening situations. If the anime did change that over decades then it’d be poor storytelling to do it here where ash is a side character in the main storyline.

Really enjoy the elite matches! Shows Brock doing what he does best! Providing teachable moments to young trainers.

David Gaddis

Yo.... primeape scuffing up our boy is friggin hilarious. Ash looking like all of his evolved mons got robbed

Trevor Fuhlman

I actually enjoy the elite challenges. I always thought it was weird how in the Pokémon anime super powerful trainers and Pokémon could so easily lose to inexperienced newbies because the writers/directors/etc got lazy and wanted to makeup tension without actually putting in effort to give good reasons for the loss. In comparison the elite matches in this show the difference between champion level Pokémon and lesser trained ones.

Simca

With ALL MY HEART I hope Brock gets a regirock or diancie

Josh Wallis

I've got to be honest. I am getting bored of the elite challenges. I couldn't bring myself to care about this fight it just feels like filler until the next arc starts. Hopefully things will change for the better soon now that the season is over.

Notanautomaton

I'm surprised that Brock didn't talk to Ash about Pikachu's pokeball. Aside from the tactical considerations, in an emergency not returning Pikachu could easily result in his death, due to the stasis effect that the pokeballs have. And in a real fight, having to carry around an injured Pikachu could easily result in them both dying.

Jericho Rising

Sadly I don't believe Brock actually played that, and happily we can assume weaker grass types can still be affected.

Jericho Rising

Steven Stone, Team Magma, Groudon, Regirock. I can see a Lot of potential on this arc

Jericho Rising

Hoenn is the home of Regirock though. That's not exactly a "baby" or weak pokemon and I can imagine it being a huge inspiration for the entire roster of rock types.

BronRevo

Ash's would've been stronger if he evolved Squirtle and Bulbasaur. Unfortunately they don't wanna :(

Jericho Rising

Very happy with how this chapter turned out. I was expecting a lot of deus ex machina forced shenanigans. Glad to have those expectations subverted, perhaps I didn't give you enough credit and I apologize for that.

The Tallest Tree

Mew! Definitely looking forward to Mew being "caught" by Sabrina so it can play with Mewtwo and get psychic headpats

Sean

Want to read more baby Pokémon training sessions. I feel if gible is showing signs to evolve, I want more gible training chapters

Sean

Good. Ash was never at that level based on the story thus far.

CentaureHeart

Reading this chapter with a gym-leader-medley song fits very well. Thanks for the chapter !

angie bell

did we ignite Primeape's need to fight Titan again? wait till he sees Empress and Brock's other team the perfect challenge to push him and others to the edge! primeape has such rage to tap into and Ash needs to bond!

Weirwood

It's so funny to realize how poorly optimized Ash's team is on his first journey.

carebear90

So... all the talk about pokemon dying and Ash calling back Primeape was a red herring in the end after all, huh?

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

Thanks for the chapter. I almost want Brock to get another pokemon in his travels, but he has plenty and he already has, like, 5 that are baby level and still need training. It doesn't make sense to give him another right now. Same concept with Sabrina; she has a lot on her plate.

William Prince

He actually still has Butterfree in this universe, if i recall. He doesn't have Muk, though. Changes in the timelines, like Forest joining, instead of Brock, butterflied so slightly different events happened.

Jorge Moreno García

Hopefully this makes Ash a bit more prepared for the Tournament.

Awdyr Storm

Shhhh, no Ash, only aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

Docnox

He doesn’t have a butterfree. Wish someone would give ash a kick about never evolving pokemon or using the ball in emergencys. Like does he not know what the ball can even do? Actually yes, he doesn’t, we saw that. Ash is super frustrating. But looking forward to brock having a long talk with oak, like two chapters worth.

Qweku_v

Thanks

ShinLupin

no deus ex machina for Ash this time. But maybe the lesson learnd will blossom into something. Will we no take a break from Kanto for a short trip or will that turn into a full blown arc with twists and shocks at every turn?

nugitoBambino

tftc!

Petrox

Hmm, 5 lifes, no items, final destination incoming. Such disrespect must be crushed.

David Green

Really thought this chapter was great, thanks for posting

the pyro stick figure 76

Small nitpick, but mechanically grass types became immune to all powder moves back in generation six.

Jean Marc Kunnen

sleep powder doesn't effect grass types

BlackRazaras

That stunk of Aah trying to use strong pokemon to win this fight.  -> Ash

BlackRazaras

Thanks for the chapter
