Serebii is my go to. The Old Gym could become a low stakes museum for Pewter’s town history or local arts. Brock probably already commissions pieces from local artists to display around his new gym but small local art museums are nice. Another cool idea would be to clean it up and make a historical gym. The new gym probably has pictures showing some history but he could set the old gym up as a period recreation or living history facility. People love throwback uniforms and getting to have events at historic venues. Maybe he could let rec leagues or local clubs have some access for special occasions or smaller concerts. That sense of history and community connection for weekend leagues would be a nice treat. TFTC!

nugitoBambino

thank you!

Donald Bagwell

I would have sabrina bring a bunch of psychics JUST for teleports

IT COMES OUT A WEEK BEFORE THANKSGIVING

You know, I first thought it was Team Rocket that set off Zappy, but now I wonder if it was just a panicking nearby pokemon? Like, imagine being a pokemon and you're just sitting there having lunch and then all of a sudden ZEUS GOD OF THUNDER APPEARS IN THE SKY AND SCREAMS A CHALLENGE TO THE UNIVERSE! I think you could be forgiven for flinching. And I *know* some peoples' flinch response when surprised is to punch. I can only imagine how bad a pokemon flinch response could be... Yes, the kids reported that "someone" attacked and set off Zapados. But we are given no further description so it really could have been a wild Pokémon (or a startled hiker and their pokemon) with an inconvenient flinch response.

Loving the idea of Brock and Sabrina assigning the trio to evacuation duty. We saw in the fight with Moltres that evacuation is what tied up Rangers and was a distraction point for Sabrina and Brock. I'm not saying Brock and Sabrina could have won against Moltores, but the two had to focus on evacuation alongside the fight (remember; both had to assign pokemon to the Rangers they rescued which meant they were both down some team members). If the others can focus on evacuation, then Brock and Sabrina will be able to devote themselves to Zapados wrangling without fear (or distraction or of hurting those nearby)

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

I hate to argue, but I think having a trainer "catch steal" Zapados would be kinda a cool plot point. Catch stealing is obviously a frowned upon practice and might be illegal. (Might be why Brock told his trainer to record with his pokedex; As a way to pave the path for legal pursuit of catch stealers) So if some rando trainer catch steals a *Zapados* from under two Gym Leaders noses...? The League is going to be mighty interested. And with other notable trainers nearby to verify that the one who caught the pokemon wasn't part of the fight? Legal battle story arc! One that everyone in the Pokémon world would probably follow closely as it would have major repercussions. Like, if Brock/Sabrina win the legal battle, then Indigo/Kanto get a Major power/political boost which groups like Hoen wouldn't want. But also, the catch stealer might not have the ability to tame a Legendary. So no one would want them to have it because that trainer would have no way to keep Zapados in line (I'm a firm believer in the idea that pokeballs can help calm pokemon down, but they *don't* tame them or stop them from rampaging and/or killing their trainer). But I honestly think Viva is going to have Zapados caught and then just released by Rangers in 'an undisclosed location'. That way no one gets the Legendary but it also isn't left back in a location where it is easily disturbed. Fun concept: the undisclosed location is Mewtwo's front door with a note saying "please hide this?"

Don't forget that Brock's team was good against Moltres as well but it didn't pan out, and the legendaries in the fic is treated as the serious threats that they are. So Ground is strong against lightning might not apply. And you might have a crystallized rock/ground pokemon.

Chris

I mean if Brock standardized his education for trainers and created an alumni network for them you’d have a trans-regional group of experienced and skilled trainers and future gym leaders. It’d be a very unique power base that would also justify Brock in getting involved with other regions plots

Bat

Second legendary bird in how many months? Oof

The Oblivious Elf

They don’t even have people from Johto in guardians I’m afraid, seems to be something of a Kanto exclusive org for now

Chris

Hmmmm, Hoenn Trio Guardian Recruitment? I could see this being a good catalyst to inspire them to seriously ramp up their training as gym leaders, notice the coordination that Brock and Sabrina have developed with their full team style battling, and maybe prove themselves for recruitment/ally themselves with the Kanto folks in a future square off against Steven Stone. Im also curious who else will be showing up based on the location change. Having Agatha, or some of the other gym leaders respond would be pretty interesting

https://www.cumulus.studio/cradle-mountain-visitor-centre At the end of Chapter 60

iceknight90

Oh damn. Time for another massive brawl. Also, I'm dying to see the rock/fire Growlithes. They're gonna be so awesome.

Alexander Gofric

honestly i think brock should try and catch the hoenn golems. He already has the relicanth to open up their sealed caves. All he would need is a wailord which shouldnt be too difficult or he could borrow brawly's.

nugitoBambino

does anyone remember what IRL building the new gym is built off of? I vividly recall the author dropping a reference to it and looking it up months ago but can't remember anymore and this chapter made me want to look at the reference again

nugitoBambino

brock's voice rumbles like an avalanche crashing into the depths of the earth "Sabrina" he growls, "Have I ever told you about Thanksgiving? Cause we're gonna need a bird"

nugitoBambino

I think it's more about having more hands on deck for evacuation. I agree, they're not ready to fight a legendary, but if they can clear out the area that's a big help and as future gym leaders risking their lives like that is actually kinda good practice

nugitoBambino

Zapdos just feels like an oddball legendary for Brock as a lightning type. I could kinda see it though

nugitoBambino

lmfao yeah it's honestly pretty awesome. but nah, I assume he's aiming up the mountains. more likely to hit a stray hiker than a building I think

readerdreamer5625

I really, really hope that those flying rocks don't hit anyone or any buildings because those are literally runaway artillery shells at this point and I don't think there'll be a convenient barrier or Psychic catching them before they hit anyone.

David P.

I know you’re not the type of writer who’ll let Brock casually capture a Zapdos. I’m sure in all likelihood, the Zapdos will get to fly away in the end. Just please. Please don’t let someone stupid catch it. Especially not with that potential foreshadowing from last chapter about trainers “catch-stealing” others hard work.

Simca

Personally I hope Brock gets a chance to capture it. He needs a legendary to match Sabrina and mewtwo

Konan2020

I would like it more if you called Bulbapedia, just say that the OG creator had a Bulbasaur as a starter

Rinaldo

Yow I’m suprised Brock let the Hoenn trio come with. It took Brawly an entire team specifically trained to fight Titan to win and they almost didn’t. They are the Not Ready For Prime Time Players, and while doing evac and crowd control is useful, uh I dunno if Brawly or Flannery will stick to that. They weren’t at Mt. Silver or facing Mewtwo, they don’t know how out of their depth they are. Legendaries can solo whole teams of Titan level Pokémon

BlackRazaras

Thanks for the chapter

J.Rogue

Honestly did not see that twist coming 👍

Raptor

Almost birb down

Petrox

Called it! If Ritchie got Zapdos, Ash should get Articuno to not be left out. Lance will be jealous of missing another battle to a legen bird

Narasan

Huh. Thats not a ratticate.

ShinLupin

First Moltres, not Zappy-chan. Lets hope that without a widespread inferno back-up will arrive quickly. I am kind of concerned about who attack Zapdos and set it of, could this be the start of campaign against Teams Aqua/Magma or is TRI making itself known? ...If Brock ever goes up against Arcturio he might want to invite Lorelei. She be forever in his debt.

Jason Robbyns

Imagine if Brock beat it down enough to capture! Nice chapter! I love the flow from nice quiet slice of life to Action! I don't even mind it's a cliffhanger!

Wolf Eiyn

Eh, at the very minimum they can help evacuate and Flannery know sunny day to try and stop a rain dance.

SailorOfHouseThunderBird

Lets Go!!! Not sure i would've brought the ace trainers along, but i can't wait to see this battle take place now that Brock and Sabrina have an actual battle plan.

Donald Bagwell

LETS ROAST THIS TURKEY!

Donald Bagwell

THEY DID THIS WITH MOLTRES TOO! COUNTDOWN TILL UNO!

Qweku_v

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

trenton martinez

Oooo spicy

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

I'm so freaking stoked for this Zappy vs Bro & co fight!

William Prince

I don't believe the Zapdos will be any stronger than the Moltres. However, it'll probably be using moves like Hurricane and Thunder in rain, which isn't good. Not to mention it might just decide to hang back in the cloud cover and bombard them if it gets annoyed.

HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan

Minor Edit: "Roxy was sitting in a rather formal ose with her legs..." I think you mean 'pose' and not 'ose' here

David Green

Super excited to see how this match up goes, there were a few typos I saw during Flannery's discussion with Missy, but other than that fantastic chapter 😄

William Prince

Just by himself, Brock's got a pretty good team for this. I can see Mega Steelix, Rhyperior, and Titan being MVPs in this fight. A single Impact Driver could do quite a bit, and Brock will be expecting the Roost trick.

Vara

Ah now I must claw through an entire week for the showdown of a legend against its weakness. Might have to reread some chapters to prevent any withdrawal symptoms.

Crimson Grave

Why!?!? Now I have to wait 6 days to see the confrontation!!! Also the trio of future gym leaders are getting some insane field experience and lessons from hanging around Brock. XD

William Prince

C'mon Brock, Kick its feathery but! You got this! You have the experience, you've got the power, and you have the type advantage. You can drive it off, or perhaps... capture it?.

Antony Wilson

LOVE IT

The Oblivious Elf

And we have to wait a whole week for the fight?!?!

Donald Bagwell

YEEEEEEEEES!

Connor Behan

it's time for another legendary bird showdown! I can't wait for the next few chapters!
