"The young evil genius in the making, with a smile of satisfaction that borders on the wicked, settles calmly onto the bed as she watches the target of her cold revenge. Her posture is relaxed; her gaze, anything but: calculating, intense, savoring every second.
—How does it feel, Jessica? To be trapped? To be the one who's not in control for once? Ironic, isn’t it? You, who used to strut through the high school halls like the whole world was at your feet… You decided who mattered and who didn’t. Who deserved attention, and who should just keep their head down. And me… to you, I was trash. Gretchen the nerd.
Jessica tries to say something behind the gagball —a plea, an apology perhaps?— but the sound barely escapes. It doesn't matter. It’s swiftly silenced by the touch of long, sharp fingernails, painted jet black, as they begin to glide with cruel precision across the sole of her left foot, drawing out a stifled laugh through the gag.
—Too much? Oh, come on! Not even close. This is just the introduction. Or have you already forgotten everything you did? Remember when you made me trip over my science project right before the fair? When you and your friends cornered me in the bathroom and flushed my notebook down the toilet like it was worthless? Or when you swapped out my presentation for that humiliating video, making me the laughingstock of the entire class while you faked surprise with that stupid giggle of yours…
Gretchen stops scratching for a second, giving Jessica a brief respite, but her smile never fades. She leans in closer, peering down at her, locking eyes.
—You had the control. The power. And you wielded it like a whip. You never hesitated to ruin someone’s life if it got you something as petty as a cheap laugh or the approval of your little posse... But I suppose if you’d paid more attention in science class, you'd know that every action has a reaction…
Her voice drops an octave, slow, venomous, as she leans over a terrified Jessica and theatrically displays the nails descending inevitably toward her helpless soles.
—Or, so that your bird-brained little mind can grasp it… you reap what you sow...
A storm of merciless tickling begins on Jessica’s helpless soles."
Remember that this is nothing more than a work of fiction, with no other purpose than to entertain, and the protagonists are of legal age. I know that the story mentions events that took place in high school, but I approach it from the perspective that this happens years later, when Jessica has had a harsh dose of reality and is working as a shop assistant, while Gretchen is still a brilliant student—this time at university—deepening her scientific knowledge, which will one day be of great use for her future plans of world domination. 😉
