You summed it up perfectly, Nick, with "defilement of innocence". That's my conclusion as well. And nothing is uglier or more deranged than that. Sometimes I think that listening to it or reading it is almost too much (proverbial abyss staring back), but, as ugly and unbearable as it is, it's also important to understand this eternal war.
