1 Year Anniversary
🕑 Added 2025-04-27 03:37:31 +0000 UTCOne year ago today, Love Sucks Night Two came out. And frankly I can't believe it's been a year.
Part of me is still in disbelief that I released a game on steam, and how much of my life has changed because I released a game on steam. Yes, lots of games release, but you'd be surprised to know that we're still within the top 4% of sellers on steam. It's a cutthroat market.
But I suppose one of the weirder things is that even though we did this huge thing that changed my life, life still goes on. People still move in the same ways they did before. It doesn't stop to pat you on the back.
I don't get to talk about the game with a lot of people I see on a day to day basis, but still things keep going. In the past year I lost a dear friend, my cat got over a deadly disease, I changed job titles twice, dealt with a huge restructuring of our own company. We've got new people working for us, new plans in the works, and new people showing up here all the time.
I already knew a lot when I started Love Sucks about game development. I learned a hell of a lot more and not just in technical skills. I learned how much I rely on my friends to keep me centered. I learned that every fool on the internet who has an opinion doesn't make them right. I learned what it is to stand up for what I believe in several times over. And I learned that my work life balance isn't as balanced as I thought it was.
But I also learned somewhere along the way that I have an unrelenting drive when there's something I want to accomplish to push me forward, and how important it is to have it. I've learned that it wasn't came just from me, but the friends you surround yourself with, and the people who support you along the way.
And also found out you don't have to comprise everything to make what you want. I'm proud to say we have a sex positive game where everyone has fun (except for that first time), and that we can have deep and enriching characters and not just 2D paper dolls people want to fuck. I've glad we can bring a touch of comedy and drama together.
Thank you for being with us. And yes, we're still working on Night 3.
You can expect it sometime in 2038.
