The Weekend Visit, Part 40
🕑 Added 2024-06-18 19:11:53 +0000 UTCThere wasn’t any time for me to process the realization that everyone was aware of my underwear situation despite everything I had done to keep that from happening. Because I also had to deal with Kate’s question about the diapers.
How could she ask that? We both knew full well that they were more than just wet. So, what did she expect me to say? Lying could backfire on me almost instantly if she decided to ‘check for herself’ after stating that she didn’t trust me, which is absolutely something I could picture Kate doing. However, telling the truth ran into an almost identical problem. How was I supposed to convince our relatives that I didn’t need diapers if it looked like I had such a major accident in the middle of the day?! And since I had stayed quiet about it thus far, it would seem as if I was taking the immature approach of not telling anyone when doing so was arguably the most mature approach, even if it would ultimately look really bad no matter what.
Of course, staying quiet more or less implied the former answer. I had to say something. Putting my faith in Kate’s discretion, as I really had no choice to trust the girl who had proved time and time again that she wasn’t particularly trustworthy where any of this was involved, I muttered, “They’re dry.” It was such an awkward thing to talk about. Deciding to embarrass myself a little in the hopes that Kate would take mercy on me, I added, “But, like, I have to pee.”
Moment of truth.
Kate just shook her head. “How would a polite young lady say it, Annie?”
“Umm, may I please, like, use the bathroom?” All the while, I resisted the urge to sigh in relief. She wasn’t throwing me under the bus. That was good, kind of. There was probably a price, but still. Anything was better than our cousins and our aunt finding out what I had done back at the country club, right?
“That’s better,” she said. Holding out her hand for me to take, this time while everyone’s attention was on us, she tacked on, “Oh! You haven’t thanked Aunt Miranda for taking us to that lovely dinner, have you?”
As usual, there was no getting away from the dynamic Kate had set up for us. Refusing to do what she just suggested would make me look like the difficult girl she kept making me look like, while going along with it would make my voiced gratitude meaningless. Now that it was prompted, I was just learning manners from my older sister. “Like, thank you, Aunt Miranda,” I murmured, blushing at how unlike myself I sounded.
Also, I was in no position to push back against whatever Kate was throwing my way. Until I was in clean diapers, I had to be careful about everything I did and said.
“You’re welcome, Annie.” Her tone wasn’t particularly friendly. Considering how much she was already judging me from the fall that caused such a scene earlier, I didn’t want to imagine how she’d react to learning about my sagging diapers. “Kate. After she relieves herself, why don’t you get your little sister ready for bed? She’s had a long day.”
I couldn’t believe it. We were just getting back from dinner. It couldn’t be that late, right? Objectively, I would actually prefer having some time to myself, rather than keeping up the bubbly tween act that was only so much of an act after hours of committing to it. At the same time, Aunt Miranda knew my real age. However, it didn’t feel like she was simply helping Kate with her little ‘experiment.’ Between the fact that I was wearing diapers and had come across as a clumsy girl earlier, it was more like our aunt was treating me like the brat Kate was presenting me as. A younger girl who needed a painfully early bedtime.
Naturally, Kate was happy to run with it. I had already reluctantly given her my hand, and she gave it a squeeze while smiling at the others. “Certainly. Luna, Lilah, I’ll be back down in a few! Want to do another board game night? Or a movie, maybe?”
“We’ll talk about it,” Luna says, “Either way, let’s meet in the basement!”
“Perf. Let’s go, Annie.” She tugged me towards the door to the inside hallway.
I didn’t hesitate in following. We had all been in the garage for an extra minute or two thanks to how Kate brought up the diapers, and I also had to make sure that my steps looked as normal as possible when the padding between my legs was sagging in the same mortifying way I had dealt with for an extended period of time at the mall.
Slowly but surely, this was becoming routine. Heading to the bathroom with Kate, for a diaper change. Since arriving at our relatives’ house, I had used the actual toilet a grand total of one time. Not a great track record, even if the majority of my accidents hadn’t been my fault. And now, for the second time in the upstairs bathroom specifically, Kate was going to see me in mess-filled diapers. Then there were the other two ‘accidents’ like that, bringing the grand total to FOUR.
In a way, Kate was right. It was difficult to deny that I needed diapers when I had pooped in them that many times, regardless of how each instance ended up happening.
Not wasting any time, Kate walked me into the room that wasn’t quite big enough for two people to be standing around comfortably. She let go of my hand and shut the door behind her, proceeding to gesture towards the floor.
“You know the drill, Annie,” she said, “Strip down to your diapers and lie down.”
There was no room for argument, not that I planned on arguing. The sooner I was in clean diapers, the better.
