Thank You--January Update
🕑 Added 2025-01-22 15:00:13 +0000 UTCThis year is only one month in and it has not gone according to plan. Firstly, I want to thank everyone for their patience this month. Losing my friend, Aaron Reese, has been truly one of the most heartbreaking things I have lived through. It feels like the third in a harrowing trilogy of loss and grief. He was one of the most important people in my life. A blerd through and through. A Black queer comic book creator who lived life to the fullest and always made space for his friends. On a selfish level, he was one of the people who constantly made space for me and never made me feel small. He believed in me even when I did not. I and the many people who love him are working to ensure his legacy as an artist remains.
As for me, I initially planned to take this month off to recoup and work on a bunch of projects to enter February 2025 fresh. Life has had other plans. So, I have thrown myself into work and trying to do things. I don’t have the full spoons for pilot watch, watch & commentary, book club trifecta this month, but I will host an X-Men movie watch-a-thon on the 31st starting at 6 pm EST until we give up, lol. Aaron loved those moves and the X-Men.
Everything else will officially restart then. We will have pilot watch, book club, etc, as planned and I’ll have the dates for that announced on the 1st of the month. If you have already started The Poppy War, you are ahead of the game, but I will just be making our Book Club meet-up for that book on Feb. 27th at 7 pm EST.
In terms of what I want to do content-wise on this platform, my goal was to take this time to roll out the new content I wanted to do for each tier in order to keep it optimized. I have been told to add a higher tier, but in this economic climate, I don’t want to gatekeep things for a higher tier. So I’ll be adding a $20 tier and it’ll just include everything the $10 tier does but no other benefits besides if you just want to support the channel at a higher level
$10 will now include a monthly exclusive video essay between 20-30 minutes
$5 will include a monthly exclusive video about something in pop culture, more yappy and topical
and $2 will get video movie and television reviews between 5-10 minutes long
Any new media I do that‘s just written will be on the $1 level.
My goal is that I want everyone to feel they are getting what they are paying for. Videos are easier for me to do than anything else and since TikTok is going the way of fascism, I’d rather do my takes here than anywhere else.
The next four years will be uncertain, and I won’t lie—I am scared. But community starts with honesty. As long as I am able to I’m going to keep being queer, Black, vulgar, and nerdy on the internet and making a space for those who need it.
