In April 2022, the film was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival,[4][5] where Park Chan-wook won Best Director.[6] Decision to Leave was released theatrically on 29 June 2022 in South Korea.[7] The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for numerous awards, including Best Film Not in the English Language and Best Direction at the 76th British Academy Film Awards. It was selected as the South Korean entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards,[8] making the December shortlist.[9] It was also named one of the top 5 international films of 2022 by the National Board of Review.[10
