not to be commenting 100 years later, but something thats been bothering me about people saying " a failed 'kindness and forgiveness' to belos , is sticking it to Steven Universe" is that ppl seem to miss the point of steven universe? there was no kindness or forgiveness to White Diamond or really any of the diamonds (as shown explicitly in the movie and in Future). Kindness, okay sure, but thats not what turned yellow and blue around. it was the fact that they thought steven was actually pink. And with white, kindness didnt do shit. The whole ending of SU with steven "beating" white diamond isnt that he forgave white, its that he realized despite everyone placing these expectations on him or others thinking hes actually pink or telling him hes pink or himself doubting that he is steven. He realizes no, this whole time he *is* himself. He finally was able to see that he has always been himself and he never was pink (aka trans allegory). And thats how he "beat" the diamonds. Not with kindness and forgiveness, but by overwhelming them with how self assured he was and overwhelming them with how much unapologetic joy and love he had in himself despite the 'strongest' diamond trying to force something else on him. Its 2 different stories and ppl need to wake up lol. its been bothering me . rant done :')
