Reposting my youtube comment here so maybe some people will see it, but thank you for this. I've been trying to find something to send people because I couldn't articulate the obvious issues with the case. My roommate and my partner both had made some weird comment about it and I just.. noped out because I didn't know anything except that the motive behind all of it was to ruin her. As someone who lived in an abusive relationship it was just.. horrifying hearing my friend, who is a victim of some abuse but not relationship abuse, side on the wrong side of it and just... I never had her re investigate or look deeper and just.. I didn't have the words to describe what was going on and I still don't, but maybe this video will help. And especially the whole.. mutual abuse thing really helped me out. As someone who was in an abusive relationship and did shitty things this is the first time I've seen it talked about like that in such a way that it really.. made sense. Like.. them saying she hit her or whatever she even did, even if any of it was true that doesn't mean she wasn't being abused. Things get heated and there's a lot of stuff someone pushes against when they abuse someone. I cheated, i got angry, I yelled. It was a mutually toxic thing. But that doesn't mean that somehow I was just as bad. And the fact that my partner and my closest friend couldn't see that... it scares me.

I relate to this as someone who went through child abuse, and had to cut contact with a parent as a result. I didn't have to even wait -- said parent was dragging me through the mud, and other people who hadn't spoken to me for years listened to said parent without even considering my side. Thank you for opening up, and accurately describing the amount of personal degradation that attempting to salvage an abusive relationship can cause.

Got out of a relationship with someone with an addiction nearly 10 years ago and thoughts of "I didn't do enough" still creep into my head. I relate to everything you said here. Thank you for this video. I've been taken aback by the media and streamer coverage of this case, thinking that we had really gone back to pre-2017 tropes regarding this kind of violence. It's been pretty puzzling to see AH turned into such a villain figure, and I'm happy you placed this discussion in relation to the plethora of "redeption arc documentaries" about the mistreatment of women in the media.
