The evolution path that seems the most reasonable to me to get the barrier to be armour, is 2nd evolution: shaping becomes permanent, that seems like a fair upgrade that I wouldn't be surprised by, and 3rd evolution: barriers defend on their own, I would also believe that there's an epic(possibly legendary if he uses the luck stone?) upgrade that let's you summon more barriers. But the hurdle stopping this is the barriers being anchored onto him, weve seen that they don't move with him unless they are at the maximum range, which means to move them with him he still would need to have warder out to keep hem at an effective range or have them 10m out. To include possible relics though it would make sense if there was a relic that gave a power full buff but shortened the range down to something like 2m, and if that relic is a percentage or multiple reduction rather than a flat "range" if "X" "equipped" set 2 meters and it's in the hand slot so he can equip multiple and then sets it in the freeze storage (idk if he can find multiple of the same relic, but I don't think so) or trades for a copy and then reduces it down to something minuscule like 1 cm, then he's still using massive resources to let it work, 3 or more relic slots. Which doesn't leave a lot left for relics to benefit gram which would be his only offense. It's plausible but there's seemingly a lot better combos.

I know how armor works, but you seem to forget that armor made of barriers would work pretty differently from actual armor. If your "armor" doesn't actually have to hold onto your body, but can instead freely float in the air in a location relative to a certain part of your body, you can get away with a lot. Specifically, a lot simpler designs. (Hell, I call it armor, but a bunch of free-floating shields that automatically intercept attack would have the same effect.) (Also, if I remember correctly, the shields are seethrough, so any helmet should be fully covering his face and not open-front.) Then there is the fact that getting the armor to work optimally, it would require him to get an evolution that allows for a certain degree of automation, which should reasonably reduce the mental load once set up, and should also allow for automatic shaping of the barrier. It would be weird if the evolutions didn't work synergistically to some degree. But even if it takes all additional evolutions, and we ignore possible Relics, I think it would STILL be fully worth it for the aggression it would let him display, and the fact that he can then focus on Gram. In the end, it doesn't matter how its implemented, but the core of it is that the barriers are, in essence, a defensive tool, while Gram is pure offense. If he can find a way to use both at the same time in their respective strongest field, even if it were to make each weapon weaker individually, the synergy would make him overall SO much stronger.

For someone who claims I missed the point, we seem to have alot in common. Most of my argument was that it's not viable, not that it's useless, you cannot shape the barrier without having the warder equipped, and if you haven't met anyone who's a cold weapon and armour Smith or is a giant Ren fair nerd, you can't realy bend amour as you move, it needs to be made of multiple pieces that are pretty precise, or be bullky and get in the way of good mobility. Without including the hands and assuming he uses a roman or greek style helmet that doesn't have a visor or neck piece, and that he doesn't want to cover his shoulders or arms, legs, and feet, he would need to conjure 2 barriers at the same time, and have the chest piece either impede the movement of his arms while swinging gram, or somehow shape itself to accommodate the movement of his torso. On the other hand he would need 4 or more pieces of intricately designed barriers that slot together and allow him to move, and have enough upgrades and mental strength(aptitude?) that he can maintaine this without warder equipped, the biggest hurdle is the evolutions, the armour ides relies heavily on either an evolution letting the barriers shape on their own, or him being offered another evolution that provides more barriers. And I'm not 100% sure, but the upgrades for lancer didn't seem to have alotta overlap after he chose his first evolution. A lot of the upsides of armour barriers also rely on what would most likely be the result of an evolution, (ie: scales of health stat, can regenerate hp) but with how hard armour would be to even start to pull off there's no way that he not only gets it to work but also has an extra evolution left over to spare. I'm not including any thoughts on relics affecting how summons work because we haven't seen any yet. The summoner class/relic might make the armour much for feasible but that would take away gram and that kinda the point of the armour.

Jeanean

You are missing the point. What matters is whether or not he can set it up in such a way that it continues working while he uses Gram and not the Warder Tome. Using the Warder to essentially create magical armor has several VERY big advantages. Most obvious would be, of course, that he could afford to risk "taking damage". Not only does the barrier fully absorb all force, meaning so long the barrier holds, he won't even notice getting hit. But he can do so without losing the Flawless bonus. Then there is the fact that he can easily "repair" any damage to this barrier-armor. And its free, from a point perspective, unlike Relic based armor, which gets destroyed after a set number of hits and then has to be replaced. There is also the potential that it could have extra effects, depending on how Warder evolves. Maybe the barriers could gain the ability to regenerate their "hp"? Or they could become capable of using his own HP and Defense values as a base. Between upgrading those, and Weapon Upgrades for his barrier durability, the effective HP of his barriers would be dependent on THREE multiplicative values, allowing it to scale insanely. Or how about a thorns/counter effect that reflect damage back on the attacker? But most importantly, its not about Warder itself, but instead about Gram. This is Gram's Stat block: Health — 200 Stamina — 200 Mana — 0 Damage — 100% Defence — 50% Speed — 100% Luck — 0 And honestly? I think it says about Gram as a weapon and how its supposed to be used. Its a decently powerful close combat weapon with a powerful special attack, and the HP and Stamina to let the user trade blows with their enemies. Sure, the low defense means the effective HP are only 100, but getting 50% armor to double the effective HP seems much easier than it would be to get an entire 100 HP directly through upgrades. Especially if you consider Relic armors. But the thing about trading blows, even when using armor, is that injuries do more than just reduce HP. Getting injured can slow you down, even cripple you, and never mind any of the variety of Status effects that can be inflicted. But with barrier armor? He can close in at speed and go aggressively on the offensive. An with the way the barriers work, he would take no damage whatsoever so long as his Barriers work. Fast, powerful, and with minimal risk of taking damage is everything needed to get all the achievements for every stage. Sure, making armor with his barriers would be far from ideal had he just Warder. But when combined with Gram, Warder can take care of the tanking, while Gram can be an insane source of DPS. It would be, as far as I can see, the optimal synergy between his two weapons. Kind of like that Synergy between Brawler and Cleric some of the other Loopers seem to favor early on, but a bit more late game, considering the number of upgrades needed in both weapons and General to get Warder to work as it needs, Gram out of its stone, and the Mana upgrades (and additional Barrier efficiency) to make the Barriers castable with Gram's Stat block.

Wait, sense there a force and crush upgrades wound if possibly a hardness, impact upgrades sense there is bleed if combine with the barrier buzzblade wound be killer

the bigger/biggest question is what benefits the Armour would have over having the moving, telekinesis shield, the Armour idea would be a waste of time, specialty, and points. the barrier is already great at blocking and Adam hasn't had any issues with getting it in-between him and an attack so investing in the barrier being shaped like shirt and helmet would be redundant and not really do anything that he couldn't already do. not to mention the concentration needed to shape the barrier so it would fit and then keep shaped like Armour also it would impede movement which is a pretty vital thing to have as we've seen.

Jeanean

Hmm... I still think it should be possible for him to turn the Warders barriers into basically magical armor. I know, he asked, and Shitbox actually told him that its not possible to turn his barriers into "objects" he can use. But it IS a fact that the barriers are anchored to his body in some way and move along with it. Even if they aren't actual objects he can hold, so long as he can get an evolution that gives him either some kind of automation, or the ability to customize the anchoring to some degree, (and ideally lets him summon more barriers) he can simply create a barrier that is, for example, anchored to his forearm so that it follows the movement of that, and not just his whole body, and he would have a shield. And he wouldn't even have to hold onto it. Of course, the big question here is, for now, does the barrier actually follow his angular movement when he has Gram out? Or is this a case where, if he were to summon the barrier behind himself, switch to Gram, and then turn around, the Barrier would be right in front of him? In that case, using the Barrier for defense and Gram for offense would still work, though it would be more a case where the Barrier is a mobile wall that lets him get in close without fearing ranged attacks, cover his back, and reduce his enemies possible angles of attack. Though he would have to learn to swap weapons really quickly and fluidly. (Also, he would probably have to get some upgrades to his Mana, make the Barriers as cheap as possible, and then switch to Grams stat block for the better Stamina and Attack. And I wonder if he could get an evolution that lets the Barrier scale with his personal Stats? Specifically Health and Defense? If he were to invest in those Stats then, he could create some pretty powerful barriers!

Kristoffer Pauly

Yeah, since the barrier doesn't have an actual damage upgrade, he has to be creative.

Kristoffer Pauly

They only evolve based on weapon upgrades. That's why they're also priced higher in the Market and why he has often picked those over better general upgrades because he was aiming to collect more Mastery Shards

Amosz

Didn't weapons evolve after specific amount of gained upgrades? (Any upgrade) If so then picking crush would make progress to weapon evolution so MC internal thinking doesn't make sense. I need re-read old chapters to make sure how weapons evolve

the ice man

So the way MC maximizes the damage is by the barrier rotation speed, the speed per hour
