(Future Fragments) Responding to the v0.23 Survey questions/responses
🕑 Added 2017-11-06 07:59:42 +0000 UTC So I didn't get to do this last month, but I wanted to respond to some of the responses that people left us on the v0.23 survey.Also, if you haven't yet seen it, and you had glitches with cutscenes, there's a new build over at https://www.patreon.com/posts/future-fragments-15238586 that fixes it!

Backer Entry: General confusion with the boss rooms (a lot of people said this)
Our response: We're working on some visual changes to the phase 1/2 boss fight; in particular, we're going to make the "movement cutscene" between rooms more obvious which direction you're moving, and we're also going to do a visual change or two to the buttons to make them stand out more in each room.
We'll also be doing cutscenes throughout the level in the full level making it obvious what your goal is for the level, as well as Vie's advice on dealing with the boss too.

Backer Entry: I'd like to see sex animations with Faye ( or Vie? If that can ever happen? )
Our response: We've got Faye's sex animation done for the Electric Level (every level gets one sex animation with Faye), and that'll be in on v0.25 if all goes well, with voice acting too.
Vie will get two or so sex scenes throughout the game, as well.

Backer Entry: Rooms were pretty darn easy, could get to the switch wthout trouble and then all the enemies just despawn...
Our response: We're hoping this month's rooms were more challenging for you and others; as to why all the enemies stop working/despawn, it's because everything in these rooms is actually a hologram created by the Mainframe Computer boss.
This will be more obvious audibly and visually in the next demo, but yeah, beating each room effectively is "turning off the security system for that room".

Backer Entry: I love what you have done so far. I would like you to keep some secret areas hard to get to. Maybe an area now and again that she could enjoy herself. Areas that would reward us for game completion and maybe extra content with a quiz of covered content.after all your story shouldn't go overlooked.
Our response: The quiz thing is a neat idea, but we don't have any plans for that right now as it'd be a little too 4th wall breaking for us (even with what we had in the most recent demo!)
For the secret areas though, we definitely have that planned as well as secret endings, and as far as an area that Talia can go enjoy herself in, that's going to be part of the gallery we'll be working into later builds as well.
Game completion rewards would be more along the lines of the core ending differences, based on how you play the game, of course.

Backer Entry: Awesome game as usual, but like in the first question. I missed vie’s apperence... somehow lol. But i’ve seen the art of her before her and i totally love her design. If anything i think that the room levels might be a little hard. Or like the ”pressing on the buttoms that shakes the screen” to not be Walking in circles. Will there be a way to let you know that you’re not just Wallking in circles? Because that’s what i did for quite some time... might just be a Noob. Either way lovely game keep up the work ~~
Our response: Vie should have a lot more screen time come the final Electric Demo, and in the Earth Level, she'll really be getting some screen time, so you shouldn't have any troubles finding her when that comes in.
The buttons thing, like up above, we'll definitely be working on :)
For letting you know you're not just walking in circles, there's a minimap on the upper right of your screen; it highlights rooms you've cleared and rooms you haven't cleared, and for later builds we'll have a large map you can access on your ESC key menu that will show the entire level and where you have and haven't been.

Backer Entry: I feel like there should be a bit more of a computer type feel to the level making it seem more tech based, other then that i hope you add a zoom option for the sex scenes unless i'm dumb and didn't notice one already in there lol. Anyway keep up the good work as always and have a great day :)
Our response: We've got a lot of visual flairs we'll be adding to the level over time, so we definitely agree with you there.
The zoom option is coming in future builds, too!

Backer Entry: I love the game. I think some one-hit enemies would be cool. I like the existing enemies but I feel like some waves of one hit fodder would be cool
Our response: You'll get your wish in the final level, The End; there's one enemy in particular that will swarm you in bunches and they'll all take one shot to take out, but if you let too many overwhelm you...

Our response: At least three of the Earth Level animations have anal, so don't worry about that one, hahaha.

Backer Entry: Maybe add a feature that lets the boss do it's own thing. Sort of like an auto button.
Our response: We actually had this planned prior to even implementing the boss, so you'll be happy to know that's in v0.24, and there's other things you can get the boss to do too if you try out unorthodox things.
If you want him to go on autopilot in v0.24, just don't touch anything for about a minute. He'll take control of your controls at that point.

oh that sounds kinda cool, I don't think I played a fast paced side scroller

That's actually the sequel; if you click back a goal or two on the goal list, there's a sequel we have planned for when this game's done where you'll be playing the game from Faye's perspective. So we already will definitely be working on that once this is done; instead of Talia's game playing like a run'n'gun cinematic platformer as it does now, Faye's game will be much more like a fast-paced metroidvania. Faye is the more experienced, skilled, and confident of the two, and as such her mobility is much higher than Talia's, giving her the ability to wall jump, tear through certain walls, navigate around maps in totally different ways than Talia does. So it'll be the same "frame of time", but with totally different map design, new attacks for enemies, new animations for enemies, new cutscenes, new storyline, and a very different gameplay style. We're basically aiming for something like Metal Gear Rising x Metroid Fusion for Faye's game, fast paced gameplay that makes you feel extremely powerful combined with a solid amount of exploration/investigation around maps, to contrast Talia's gameplay. The storyline focus will be lesser in Faye's version, as it'll focus mostly around her events rather than the overarching storyline of the entire game; this is because most people will have played the first game and instead of repeating all the "in-universe storyline" events to the player, we'd rather focus on how Faye influenced things as well as her perspective, which also plays to her general arrogant/not one to stand around and be introspective type personality.

question (stemming from the multiple endings thing) do you plan on some point, like if you get a large enough amount of pledges each month or something, plan to make it to where you play as Faye and your trying to beat Talia to the pieces? because the intro video shows they both have different plans when they get all fragment pieces. or do you plan to tell her side of the story in a sequel or something? I mean I like Talia better myself but that might be because she the protagonist and we don't really know her side of the story yet besides the fact that she fought along side Talia before being blasted to the future and think it'd be interesting to see. just something I'm curious about, I like the story but I'm a guy who has a "nothings black and white" mind set. I mean it says Talia wants to destroy the fragments and Faye wants to use them herself, but that doesn't mean she would use it for evil, what if she see's the king from her time as kind of a dick and she clearly sees Talia as simple minded. just a thought.
