Benzaldehyde from Bitter Almond Oil
🕑 Added 2016-09-27 17:54:49 +0000 UTC Hey guys! This is kind of a slowish month, so this is only the 3rd video. Don't worry though! There will be 2 more posted before the end of the month. The next is trans-cinnamic acid by the Verley Doebner Knoevenagel condensation of benzaldehyde and malonic acid.I am also working on a video talking about infrared light because I managed to get my hands on a nice FLIR IR camera. Filming it has been a HUGE pain though.
There is nothing on the FLIR camera to mount it anywhere and to record video it must be tethered to a laptop. I also want to get concurrent real-time normal video, so getting both cameras setup and synced has been a major hassle. Almost done though!

I will make some bakelite eventually. It isn't going to be beautiful though. Probably all puffy and ugly
Once again, nice Video! Suggest the making of Bakelite. It is a simple polymer with some pretty basic chemicals. I would order a beaker or two. Perhaps an Erlenmeyer flask instead. They look cooler.
