It was this weakness that had goaded her into a poorly planned attempt to infiltrate a nearby White Knight outpost, her skill with a sword unmatched in her cohort and she--assumed--more than enough to deal with a few pesky bitches.
What she had forgotten--of course--was that arrows cared little about how adept you were with a blade, and her body was just as yielding to their barbed tips as the next girl's.
Nicole would perish unseen by her sisters in the Swans, and though they would eventually notice her missing, none would search hard for her. Whatever legacy she had sought to earn for herself, unearned, and her body left for the fish to deal with at their leisure...
