Some Ed

Thank you. I did not see it until now, but i would've been confused. In the Dragon Lance Chronicles, white mages aren't known for their healing magic. In fact, arcane healing isn't a thing, it's a significant plot point. White mages in that work are known for having almost the same kind of attitude as paladins, except more magic oriented rather than hitting things with big hunks of metal. Also a significant touch of the elvish "oh my deity, don't do these things we used to do, everyone should have instantly learned the lessons from our mistakes despite our being collectively unwilling to admit any of them."

Dan Shive

My concern was entirely that people were saying they didn't know what it meant, and I didn't want any confusion.

Prof Sai

Ugg. I suppose snow is racist now.

Stephen Gilberg

I did too, but I don't blame Dan. It sounds racist.

Patreon's decision to change the "Read more" link to "Show more" today was...unfortunate.

A Red Mage Named Blue

Clothes Mages are just Red Mages who found a market niche

Prof Sai

That's odd. I'm not a big RPG player, but I still knew what "white mage" was supposed to mean.

Chordat

Hey, you don't know! Maybe this world has healers who aren't mages! The distinction is important!

KiTA

Hm, this is true!

Dan Shive

Healer mages sets up the naming convention for towel mages and clothes mages. They’re all “____ mages.”

KiTA

Hm. Instead of "healer mage" I'd just use "Healer." In many isekai and litrpg novels I've seen "healer" used but never "healer mage."

Sleep

Eventually, Ashley's subconscious will stop short-circuiting these scenarios.

KiTA

Bonus pinup idea that will NEVER happen: Ashley meeting Casual Sarah.

KiTA

For some reason I just picture Sarah as the one having this particular daydream. Maybe Ashley and Sarah should compare notes one day in the corner of the lab while shooing away Tedd anytime he comes near.

KiTA

EXACTLY what I came to post. Or at least something very similar. ;)

Dan Merget

Hey, you sass that hoopy towel mage? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is.
