To be fair, Grace doesn't just hug Ellen more because "yay, Grace hugs everyone all the time always!" Grace's closeness to Ellen is similar to her closeness to Sarah, and that's VERY close.
Like, if Justin, Nanase, and Ellen are walking towards Grace, it's briefly going to look like Ellen has a magnetic pull on Grace. That's just how Grace is with her.
Now, if Ellen and Sarah were approaching Grace, um... Hm. I'm not sure. That could be dangerous. Grace might get pulled in both directions, wind up spinning, and fly off somewhere. Then Sarah and Ellen would have to rock-paper-scissors to determine who goes get Grace this time.

Well now I jokingly hate you because of the wheels in my brain your commentary got spinning: What if Ellen and Sarah get pulled towards grace so fast, they collide with each other and fuse together, and grace hugs forevermore. What if grace gets pulled apart into two smaller graces that go flying towards each of her friends. etc. etc. What if Tedd and Sarah accidentally body swapped and Tedd's fastidious scientific nature lead to all sorts of shenanigans. Too! Many Jokes!!!
