Commentary
I also wind up hearing nearby conversations, but it's not out of habit or desire.
IT'S BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO IGNORE THEM O_O
Okay, I sort of can if I have something of my own to listen to that involves people talking (like, say, my own conversation), but I have so much trouble just ignoring sounds around me.

Ellen boy would be Elliot. No, crap! That would be Magus.

"I also wind up hearing nearby conversations, but it's not out of habit or desire. IT'S BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO IGNORE THEM O_O" ...big autism mood

"That Ellen girl." As opposed to that Ellen boy?

Yeah, I tend to share this super power, except maybe like the Wade Wilson version. Even *if* I'm in a conversation with other people, even *if* I'm talking to other people at the time the thing is said, I will sometimes overhear people talking quietly around me. Which makes it very difficult to engage in conversations. But also in some cases makes it difficult to not interject into conversations I'm not a part of, especially those that happen in my own home.

I have not been blessed with this particular super power because my TBI caused tinnitus forces me to have to concentrate hard on a conversation to understand it.

I have trouble ignoring conversations at the office. Partially justified paranoid habit. Especially if it involves anything remotely to do with my area. Also a slightly more effective way of obtaining the information you need to do your job than being told straight up or asking in the first place. Weird.

That's another very common adhd thing, I think.
