That first running style looks like it involves a lot of arm swinging though, and it's hard to run at all without taking one step, and then again...

While the Crush 40 Sonic reference above the commentary is very obviously a planned Sonic reference, the commentary was a train of thought that got of hand. "Okay, I've got an intentional Naruto run reference in the comic. I'll joke about it being a Susan run! Although, I think Mario sort of running like that predates Naruto? I'm not certain, but sure, let's mention Mario running, and... Wait. Do the Mario... Oh my goodness. THAT'S a reference to the Super Mario Bros Super Show!"
